Was worried after reading reviews. Right next door to the train station. Pay and display carpark that is free to hotel residents.Beautiful old building with a large garden with a gazebo and several tables at the back. Our room was one of the renovated ones. Both bedroom and en suite bathroom were clean with very comfortable beds. Big TV, hair dryer, hospitality tray. Nice little touches like chocolates on your bed. Staff friendly and helpful. We didn't eat here but saw desserts being taken to a table and they looked very nice. Downside, - This once gorgeous hotel (massive Central staircase, chandeliers, high ceilings etc) is in the process of being renovated, which means the public areas are awful. It nearly put me off even going in to see our room. Im glad I came it's a glorious building and I'd love to come back to see it fully restored to its former glory.

Attended a conference at this hotel, tea and coffee machines in the meeting room made so much noise whilst boiling I could hardly hear the speaker!! Why not put them just outside in the corridor? Buffet food was definitely not good! It was cold and the beef was very fatty!!
