This is the most romantic place on the planet. We found that a few of these older houses didn't feel authentic once they were turned into wedding venues, but with Thrumpton it's the opposite - it's full of character. Every room we saw had its own personality and everything in the house told a story (sometimes literally when it came to the Byron relics). It's still a home, so it feels really warm and welcoming. My favourite room was the library, which had these big squashy sofas and ancient books and was full of light. The gardens were beautifully looked after. After the blessing we wandered round for a bit and discovered a hidden herb garden with a maze in it and then in other direction we came across a little bridge that took you over to an island in the middle of the lake. There was a family of swans there, so we didn't risk it... Lynn and Paula couldn't do enough to help us out, they were awesome. Food was excellent. Very beautiful and very special venue.
