A 2 night break in October. Villiers is a charming, well run hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful , the bedroom was extremely clean and well appointed. Food and service excellent and an excellent location. I would return again if in the area.

Very well positioned hotel. Room was very spacious and well equipped. Bed was comfortable. Downsides were the black mould around the windows which were so stiff we struggled to open/close them. The same for the shower - my husband could barely turn it on and off it was so stiff. Good sized bathroom - shame about the cracked basin. Also surprising that all bathrooms (except disabled) only had bath/shower combo which for lots of people makes it difficult. Our main gripe was the service at breakfast: lack of fruit salad and the fact that both mornings the hot breakfast came out at exactly the same time as the porridge despite requesting otherwise. My husband’s cooked breakfast was cold. I sent mine back on the second morning - and had to then wait ages for the waitress to come back to us. There was a definite lack of interest. Shame.

This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. We attended a wedding at Villiers, which was marred by extremely poor service and low-quality food. Thankfully there is a Domino Takeaway next door, who did very well out of the wedding guests that night. The hotel forgot to charge the microphone for speeches, forgot bring out the champagne for the toasts, forgot to play music at prompted times, among many other things. Upon arrival at the hotel, they had not configured our room for a family, though this was quickly resolved. The final straw was breakfast. We were greeted with a curt note about not adjusting the toaster settings, which we complied with, only to receive a piece of bread that was no more toasted than when it went in. The hot drinks machine produced hot chocolate that lacked any chocolate flavor. The orange and apple juice were actually squash! When we ordered food, aware of the poor quality of everything else, we chose a seemingly safe option: avocado on toast. Astonishingly, they managed to mess that up too! We were served a piece of toast that could have been used as a weapon, topped with a dollop of squirty bottle guacamole-style substance that you might find on nachos. We were one of many other disappointed guests. An absolutely dreadful experience. Added 8/12/24: Apparently the brides had also purchased a large wooden plaque for all the guests to sign as a memory of their special day, this was given to the hotel to put up at the venue, and they lost it.
