Weddings at Baltic:

Host your special day in an internationally renowned gallery, surrounded by art, amazing architecture, and everyone you love the most. Baltic is housed in a former flour mill on the historic banks of the River Tyne in Gateshead. A dramatic landmark building, we host an ever-changing calendar of exhibitions and events - a stylish and unique location for civil ceremonies, wedding breakfast, and receptions. Home to several dramatic spaces for your big day, our gallery is fully licensed to host ceremonies in any of its spectacular spaces and our dedicated Wedding Planners are on hand to help you to plan your day from start to finish.

Gallery Wedding:
Our gallery space on Level 1 is fit for the grandeur of a large-scale exhibition. We'll help you curate the space to suit you. Featuring white walls and pinewood floors, you have the freedom to decorate this space as you wish. The floor includes a reception space outside the main scenic lifts, and a large auditorium for your service and reception. This space is perfect for ceremonies for 180 guests. Level 1 also boasts its own 54 seat cinema where your guests can watch show reels or photos of your time together, as well as a dressing room with light mirrors which can be used as a powder room and a relaxing space where you can take a few minutes before re-joining the celebration.

Balcony Wedding:
Our Level 5 balcony space is a smaller room that showcases jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides. This space can accommodate up to 39 daytime guests and 250 evening guests, perfect for a more intimate ceremony.

Riverside Terrace:
The striking River Terrace is located on the ground mezzanine of Baltic. Featuring full length picture windows, this room is flooded by natural light and boasts incredible views of the River Tyne and Newcastle quayside. This space is licensed to host civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 160 guests for a ceremony and up to 250 for an evening reception.

I went there with my college tour in November, and it was my first time visiting an art gallery. I must say, all the artworks were beautiful. I encountered captivating exhibitions like Project Art Works: Residential and Michael Rakowitz’s The Waiting Gardens of the North. Each offered a unique perspective and left an indelible impression on my mind.

I only viewed the Galleries. Entry is free but donations welcome. I enjoyed the Disability exhibition as this is a topic that hardly happens. Some of the amateur art work was great; & adult content section. There is so much space in this Gallery, and could be better used. The lift and views were amazing. As a wheelchair user the Gallery was disabled friendly! There are disabled bays on south shore road on the side of the Baltic Art Gallery.

Liked this. An eclectic range of exhibits. Frankie Raffles photography exhibit particularly good. Worth an hour for sure and free with a donation. Excellent views as well as exhibits with a nice coffee shop which has access to a roof terrace. The access isn't obvious but either ask the staff or go up the stairs in the corner of the coffee shop.
