Baltic is housed in a former flour mill on the historic banks of the River Tyne in Gateshead. A dramatic landmark building, we host an ever-changing calendar of exhibitions and events - a stylish and unique location for civil ceremonies, wedding breakfast, and receptions. Home to several dramatic spaces for your big day, our gallery is fully licensed to host ceremonies in any of its spectacular spaces and our dedicated Wedding Planners are on hand to help you to plan your day from start to finish.

Our gallery space on Level 1 is fit for the grandeur of a large-scale exhibition. We'll help you curate the space to suit you. Featuring white walls and pinewood floors, you have the freedom to decorate this space as you wish. The floor includes a reception space outside the main scenic lifts, and a large auditorium for your service and reception. This space is perfect for ceremonies for 180 guests. Level 1 also boasts its own 54 seat cinema where your guests can watch show reels or photos of your time together, as well as a dressing room with light mirrors which can be used as a powder room and a relaxing space where you can take a few minutes before re-joining the celebration.

Balcony Wedding:
Our Level 5 balcony space is a smaller room that showcases jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides. This space can accommodate up to 39 daytime guests and 250 evening guests, perfect for a more intimate ceremony.

The striking River Terrace is located on the ground mezzanine of Baltic. Featuring full length picture windows, this room is flooded by natural light and boasts incredible views of the River Tyne and Newcastle quayside. Beautiful building that's free entry with wonderful exhibitions- we saw an amazing Hannah Perry show after speaking to the staff we stayed for around 35 mins to see all aspects. There is a activist/feminist photography exhibition on 1 floor by Franki Raffles who I'd never heard of before but found the images really moving and truthful. On the 5th floor there's a little space with paint transfer pictures from the Sycamore Gap stump. The staff member here was really knowledgeable about the tree andvthe case. There's a great gift shop and the staff were so friendly and it was really good to talk to them about the artworks

For a free experience, you can't really go wrong, the best viewing platform over the Tyne Bridges with an inside and outside viewing area. Working your way down the floors, you have the Connemara art exhibits that are also very interesting to see.

This is a free gallery of changing contemporary art displays. It is housed in a former giant flour mill over multiple floors. It also includes a public viewpoint of the River Tyne and its bridges.
