The history of Newbattle Abbey through the centuries, from the first half of the twelfth, when the site was the location of a Cistercian monastery, to the present day when Newbattle Abbey is a conference, function and event venue in a top location within easy reach of Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh.
The College. Newbattle Abbey is also the location of Scotland’s foremost adult education college and it is a great venue for events and meetings.
The grand Drawing Room's ornate fresco ceiling is a breath-taking example of the work of Edinburgh architect, Thomas Bonnar.

August 2020The grounds and the forest adjoining are perfect for a nice circular walk, although make sure you bring walking shoes if it's been raining.
