Mustard Tree is a charity that combats poverty and prevents homelessness.
We believe everyone needs a home, everyone needs opportunity to earn an income and everyone needs help at some point in their life.
Our Ancoats building – previously a wholesalers – was generously gifted to the charity by Anthony Preston CBE and his wife Margaret, which proved transformational in the development of the charity. Following ‘The Big Rebuild’ led by OMI Architects in 2018, Mustard Tree made a commitment to dedicate the refurbished Ancoats building to the community.
We have several spaces available to hire for your meeting, training or away day.
Our small meeting room accommodates 4 to 6 people, making it perfect for face-to-face appointments, small team meetings, or private work sessions. The room is equipped with up to six chairs and two tables, providing a comfortable setting for productive gatherings. Wi-Fi is also available for seamless connectivity. It’s a practical, well-equipped option for small groups.

May 2024This afternoon a colleague and I stopped by the cafe for an informal meeting and we were genuinely impressed! The team exuded warmth and were professional making us feel instantly welcome. The coffee and pastries were delicious and served with care. Liam provided exceptional service, going above and beyond to ensure our visit was memorable. Beyond the cafe I purchased a nearly new blazer for £4 at their retail shop!! We were told about the Charity and it's work during our visit - it's evident that TMT is deeply committed to the community, an extraordinary place!

February 2020Really nice staff. The building has been refurbished. A good place to volunteer and pick up new skills if you haven't got any work experience. They have an Art Class for the Picassos out there. You can also learn to play the guitar. There is also a shop where you can buy all sorts.

December 2024An ok place for various weekly group sessions. There are two problems the Manchester branch need to address. There are several blatant queue jumpers at the entrance who shake hands with some in front then stand with them in order to walk straight in at 10am when the doors open. Then there are 10 people who sign into the groups but only go for the meal and hot drinks and never go into any of the groups. They're taking up limited spaces from genuine users. They all sit together. I've mentioned both of these problems several times and nothing gets done. There are cctv cameras at the entrance to the Mustard Tree and cctv cameras inside. The groups start at 12 noon. I regularly leave the groups at 2pm and find the group blockers still sitting in the dining room with no intention whatsoever of joining any group, only going for the free meal and hot drinks. It happens several times a week and the queue jumping happens every day, Monday to Saturday.

November 2024It's okay, you don't expect help if the person is not willing to help, Help is just a word and Mustard Tree doesn't help. 60 quid voucher card and most objects costs twice or triple than the voucher card I wonder if this is a charity...
