Hotel is very nice, area is within walking distance from Buckingham Palace, Victoria Station and Big Ben. This is good especially if you’re a first timer in London. Breakfast is very good and varied. Also the hotel bar has options and not expensive. My issues now: 1. For a 2night reservation made through Booking.com they blocked the first night before we came and then they charged the whole ammount again. And you have to pay with you physical card, can’t do it by phone. Not ideal to have less 600£ for a 2night citybreak in London. 2. The room we had was 239, which is in a different part of the hotel, basicaly from reception it takes you 3-4minutes(elevator broken) to get to your room. 3. At night, the heating system was so loud it would wake us up both on both nights! It seemed like there was water running through pipes whenever the heat would start. Overall would come again here but would pay cash and not card as it is a problem with this type of hotel.

    December 2024

We stayed for 3 nights 15.12.24 to 18.12.24 in a “superior” room. We didn’t check in until nearly 11pm as we’d been out in London all day. We were given a room in the basement, up and down loads of tiny staircases. We had a window but couldn’t tell what the view would be like until the morning (but we knew it wouldn’t be good). Our room was TINY. Only enough room for one bedside table so one of us had nowhere to put things next to the bed, nowhere to charge our phone, etc. The room was advertised as having a “desk” but it did not. The tiny piece of carpet between the bed and the bathroom door was absolutely soaked through. It was late and we were tired so we put a bath mat down over the floor but still got wet feet every time we walked on it to get to the bathroom. The next morning we woke up to our view (see photo). This is particularly disappointing given that we booked a year in advance and asked for a room on a high floor. The carpet was still soaking wet so we reported it to reception and they said they’d sort it or move our room. We didn’t get back that evening until around 11pm when reception said the carpet was completely sorted. When we got to our room a fan was on, blowing at the patch of carpet but the carpet was still quite damp, but at least not sodden like it had been. We still got wet feet when walking over it. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, the pillows were very flat. The curtains were thick blackout curtains but the three separate curtains for the bay window didn’t actually meet each other so there were big gaps letting light in. This was annoying even in the darkness of December but would be awful in the summer. The room was stupidly tiny. The breakfast room was so small and crowded and there were irksome little issues like no toaster but no one told us we could ask for toast to be made so we went without at first, and the coffee was in a flask type thing labelled “hot water” so my partner tried to use it to make tea and when we realised it was coffee, the staff were perplexed why we would add a tea bag to coffee and still didn’t understand when we pointed to the “hot water” sign. On the plus side the staff were mostly polite and helpful, the bathroom was small but was really nice and the best part about the room (it seemed newly refurbished, modern, clean, with a great shower). The hotel was also in a good location with only a 10 minute walk to Victoria station and was in a quieter part of the city which felt nice to get away from the hustle and bustle. Overall I definitely wouldn’t stay here again and would not recommend it.

Upon arrival, we had to wait 20 minutes just to check in. When we finally got to our room, we were shocked by how small it was compared to the pictures online—even the square meters were off. We immediately went back to reception to request a change, and they offered us an upgrade (for an additional £20 per night)… The hotel consists of two wings, and we stayed in the second wing, which had an odd atmosphere. • There is a common room, but it’s always empty, giving the space an abandoned feel. • There’s a separate entrance to the wing, but it’s permanently closed, making it feel like you’re in some ghost section of the hotel that’s been forgotten. To make matters worse, we stayed at the 5th floor, and the elevator was out of order. We had seen reviews from a month ago complaining about this and assumed it would be fixed by now. It wasn’t… Room Experience • The larger room we moved to was decent in size, and the bed was comfortable. • However, the sheets were dusty, almost like the bed hadn’t been touched for days. • The shower took maybe 5min to heat up in the morning. • The AC pipes made loud noises throughout the night, to the point where we had to turn off the AC completely just to get some sleep. Positives • The location is good. • The staff was professional and cordial. In its current state, the hotel has huge accessibility concerns. We’re a young couple and had no issue climbing 40 floors throughout our stay, but we can’t begin to imagine what elderly guests or the cleaning staff have to go through every day. On top of that, a lot of the infrastructure is outdated and needs proper investment to deserve the 4 star rating that the hotel claims to have.

I had an extremely disappointing stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that convenience and guest comfort were not priorities. First, there were stairs at the entrance, and I had a very heavy suitcase to carry up with no assistance. Things got even worse at check-in when I was informed that my room was on the fifth floor, at the very end of the corridor, and that the elevator was out of order. I had to haul my luggage up all those stairs, which was completely unacceptable. Another frustrating issue was the gym access. Instead of using the same key card as the room, you need a separate card, and you have to request access every single day. This unnecessary hassle makes no sense. The hotel also aggressively advertises an Indian restaurant connected to the property, with posters in the reception and rooms. But when I called to order food, I was told I had to go there in person, place my order, wait for it, and carry it back myself. After forcing me to stay on the fifth floor without an elevator, they seriously expected me to go through all that effort just to get a meal? It felt like a joke. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Everything about my stay was inconvenient, poorly managed, and frustrating. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

I stayed at The Wellington in early March 2025. Upon check-in, I was charged a deposit, and at check-out I was told the refund had been processed. However, the money has still not been returned to my account. The hotel claims that the refund might take several days, which makes it impossible to verify on the spot and forces guests to spend time checking and following up later. This is an unfair and untrustworthy practice. I do not recommend this kind of customer experience.
