Cumberland Basin, Prince Albert Road, London, NW1 7SS -

At the northern fringe of Regent’s Park, the Feng Shang Princess floats serenely on a quiet stretch of canal. You can’t miss its pagoda-style peaked roof and bright red paint. Inside, its two floors are done out in a smart, traditionally Chinese style that’s a good match for old-favourites menus that run from Cantonese to Szechuan. Look out for the contemporary options, such as vegetarian crispy duck – a little reminder that this is no ordinary Chinese restaurant.

January 2025A very scenic place to eat but food wise it was not outstanding. I thought it was a waste because with such beautiful decor and views, the restaurant could have upped the game by using Oriental chinaware instead of of dull plastic black bowls.

March 2025Our Tai Chi group of 16 had lunch last week and it was excellent. Food was delicious, authentic Chinese nothing like your regular Chinese takaway. Staff were attentive and friendly. Good atmosphere. Families were there too with children. I highly recommend. Not cheap but good value considering its position on the Regents Canal and easy walk to Camden Town.

February 2025Wasn't sure what to expect as there were many mixed reviews. But having gone I now understand why as I was left in two minds about the place. Firstly the venue is definitely different and quite special being in a boat and in a location with little else apart from mansions and the canal. Inside was surprisingly warm and snug and a very pleasant and clean environment. Service was very fast and attentive throughout. So far so good. Issues were portions are quite sparse and I thought quite overpriced, as other reviews have already stated. For instance we ordered a side plate of broccoli with garlic sauce which when it arrived was quite a small portion with about two pieces of broccoli. But it cost a whopping £13 just for that! We ordered as well what was meant to be a large fillet of sea bass which cost £28. What came was quite a small and thin piece of fish. So yes it's a lovely venue, definitely has the wow factor and service is excellent. But it is clearly quite overpriced for what it is and the food portions, although good and fresh are quite sparse. So it's obviously a trade off between the two. I may go again and bring others just to show the venue and location off. But with those prices and small portions probably not in a hurry!

March 2025While the location and atmosphere can be nice, the food and service are not. Ordered egg fried rice as a side dish and the appearance of it was extremely disappointing that I had to send it back. The waitress didn’t manage the complain in a good way and, after an assertive request to cancel the order, she took the dish back to the kitchen. They also offered to add more staff to the rice at the chef’s consideration but my mood was ruined by their lack of customer care. Also, I noticed that they were talking in Chinese behind our back looking at me and my guests with disdain. Whole dining experience was ruining by the two Chinese ladies at that restaurant.
