Japanese ramen merchant Yamagoya has long been a fixture of London’s pop-up scene, but this is the first permanent site for the outfit. The stripped-back interior compliments the quick and casual service which sees diners order from a counter. Snacks include a seaweed and edamame salad, and chicken karaage with yuzu mayo. Yamagoya’s signature ramens are also present, with toppings featuring the likes of pork belly, marinated bamboo shoot, wood-ear mushroom and marinated egg. Cold varieties cooked in cold water are available too, topped with either chicken or tofu. Come dessert, there’s the Instagram-friendly raindrop cake (which is completely clear and shaped like a water droplet), while drinks are covered via a selection of house wines, beers and saké. For diners in a rush, Yamagoya offers a short takeaway menu, which includes Japanese-style sandwiches filled with chicken katsu and chicken chashu.

Really great lunch place. The ramen lunch special is affordable and very tasty. There are a bunch of other options but it does get busy fast. Fast and tasty ramen 🍜🤤

Affordable ramen at Kokora. Overall authentic ramen served at this place however I would say they are on the salty side. The seasonal special Tom Yum is seriously good especially if you like a tangy broth. It is topped with shimeji and white fungas. The chicken broth for the other ramen is definitely chickeny but it tastes like stock made from chicken bones. The only gripe is that they no longer serve the raindrop cake but luckily I have tried it elsewhere.

This charming Ramen eatery, several streets behind Southbank…is a gem if you’re in the area. Yes yes yes… there are a few complaints about this and that. When we popped in for lunch today, we were lucky to secure an empty table. The guy taking orders was friendly and polite. Our noodles were ready after a short wait. Broth delicious. Noodles superb! What more could anyone ask for…?
