About Venue
Japanese ramen merchant Yamagoya has long been a fixture of London’s pop-up scene, but this is the first permanent site for the outfit. The stripped-back interior compliments the quick and casual service which sees diners order from a counter. Snacks include a seaweed and edamame salad, and chicken karaage with yuzu mayo. Yamagoya’s signature ramens are also present, with toppings featuring the likes of pork belly, marinated bamboo shoot, wood-ear mushroom and marinated egg. Cold varieties cooked in cold water are available too, topped with either chicken or tofu. Come dessert, there’s the Instagram-friendly raindrop cake (which is completely clear and shaped like a water droplet), while drinks are covered via a selection of house wines, beers and saké. For diners in a rush, Yamagoya offers a short takeaway menu, which includes Japanese-style sandwiches filled with chicken katsu and chicken chashu.

We had lunch here after reading the good reviews. Food was good especially the ramen. Rice bowl portion is on a smaller side however this is also reflected in the price. Overall we are happy with the food and would be back if we are in the area again.

This ramen restaurant is unreal! The eggs and noodles are cooked perfectly, and the portion is good. The price is fairly reasonable in London. I highly praise this ramen restaurant – it’s probably the best in London. As an Asian and having been to Japan many times , I can say this is really good overall in terms of the quality, portion , and price.

So many things to love about Kokura. Very nice looking from the outside and inside, still casual but very cozy. The prices are great and the menu is nice because it doesn’t have too much on it (specialised) but still has something for everyone! Including dessert! The karaage was perfect! Up there with the others in London like Ippudo and Kanada-Ya. Ramen (chicken) was very tasty! I added a lot of the chilli and I loved it. The egg was really good too. Chicken katsu curry lunch was nice ! Lovely !

Easy-going and delicious! The place is nice, chill, easy-going, comfortable, with a canteen feel but in an almost nostalgic and cozy way. The food is very delicious! Obviously their focus is ramen, and especially for the price you get some top quality bowls (highly recommend marinated egg add-on)! However, do not sleep on their karaage chicken! Crispy, succulent, flavourful!

I've never had such salty Gyodon before. It was so salty that I couldn't finish it. I've also never had such tasteless curry chicken katsu. Although I don't think the one at Kokoro is good either, it's still better in comparison. At least the curry sauce at Kokoro has a stronger flavor. If it's just to fill your stomach, the price here is still quite cheap. And the moment we just finished eating, the staff came to clear the table to hint that we could “make room” for other customers.
