January 2025I have been wanting to visit for a few years and we finally managed it this year. It's not a big museum but I absolutely loved it. It takes you back to your childhood

February 2025If you like social history and/or are interested in brand advertising, design and endurance you'll love this. Set out by era and decade, in a weaving time tunnel, it's so much more than just packets and bottles! The displays feature relevant antique objects displays alongside. It's also like a potted history of Britain, toy museum, media museum all rolled into one. Engaging and easily surpassed any expectations I had. We spent about 3 hours there as there's so much to see.

February 2025If I were to make a list of must-visit places in London, the Museum of Brands would definitely be in the top 10. This museum stands out from standard history or art museums by showcasing more tangible items, particularly brands, events, and toys that have shaped our lives over the past 200 years. It’s fascinating to see the products people used in the recent past, the packaging details, typographic changes, evolving habits, devices, and perspectives on political events—all through the items and materials on display.

January 2025We spent over an hour here… a great way to map social history through packaging, advertising and products over time. We also loved the nostalgia of finding things from your childhood! A great place to visit for an hour or two near to Portobello and Notting Hill.

December 2024Fascinating. Brilliant but flawed... Lots of objects, packed into continuous walls of displays. And I do mean packed - I think I heard there are about 80,000 items on display! Starting from the Victorian era (if you ignore the token cabinet of archaeological objects), organised by era or decade, there are all kinds of things: food, drink, medicines, radios, TVs, clothes, toys, books, magazines, and much more. Each era or decade is described in one short panel (see example in my photos) but these panels are the total extent of the curatorial text - the objects themselves are not described. So if you wonder what an object is, tough luck, you can't find out. Equally if you want to know more about an object, you're out of luck. There were a couple of audio displays, but these didn't work on the day I visited. So it was interesting to see all these objects, some familiar from childhood days, summer from history books and old movies, some completely novel; but ultimately frustrating. There is a small but sufficient café which serves a small range of sandwiches and sweet things. And the three members of staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful.
