The four star Montague on the Gardens Hotel combines the best of two worlds. In front is the British Museum and the hurly-burly of tourist London, whilst to the rear there's a serene private garden, cut off from the city by a rectangle of fine Georgian townhouses.

Between the two lies The Montague on the Gardens Hotel – an intriguing blend of up-to-the-minute city vibrancy and old-world Bloomsbury charm, where guests can expect British hospitality at its finest.

Featuring an excellent array of peaceful and exciting outdoor and indoor event spaces, as well as our seasonal pop-up concepts, The Montague Ski Lodge and The Beach Bar.

The Leopard Bar Terrace can hold up to 50 people reception style and is a popular venue for weddings, celebrations, and events. It also boasts a fully retractable roof and sides and full air conditioning to offer the perfect venue all year round.

I feel compelled to write about my amazing experience at the Montague on the Gardens. Back story, I worked in hotels as a front office manager and bellman/valet while going to college, so I know the hospitality industry first hand. I have traveled extensively and I can say that my wife and I have never had a nicer experience at any hotel. The entire crew from the doormen to the maids and everyone in between were absolutely friendly and very accommodating. The food was wonderful and we actually had scones and tea (very English) complimentary from the hotel. My only complaint, and be it a minor one, was that the room was a bit on the small side. It was only a 30 minute walk from the London Eye within walking distance from many nice eateries.

Perfection. My husband and I just returned from a week’s stay at The Montague and I am delighted to add to the many rave reviews. I have stayed at innumerable hotels over my life and this is the very best one by a long shot. The primary reason: the people who work there. The staff is unfailingly professional, helpful, available and friendly — every single one of them and there are many. I have never had such good service in my life and I’m terribly picky! Each of them truly goes the extra mile. They do what is rare these days in the hospitality industry: they do not simply fulfill your requests — they anticipate them. I have to give a special thanks to Frankie, a young woman at the desk, who went above and beyond when we had a specific need. Further, there are many different common areas and all are exceedingly comfortable, fun and well done. I could easily have spent many more hours in these rooms curled up with a good book sipping tea, coffee, or hot chocolate that all available in the very well-appointed sitting room most of the day. While I’m not a London expert, I don’t think the location can be beat. It is both near all main attractions and neighborhoods and yet is on an extremely quiet street that does not feel at all touristy despite being across the street from the British Museum — the best of both worlds in my opinion. We had expected to take many tube trips but ended up taking only two because everything we wanted to see (except Notting Hill) was walkable. Our trip was for a special occasion and The Montague is what truly made it a special and memorable one.

My family (two adults, two teens) had a wonderful 4-night stay at the Montague. The hotel is located in a building that were formally townhouses, and it has an old-world charm (including the living area where you can read the paper or have a drink, the lounge, and restaurant). It is directly across from the British Museum, and a short walk to the tube. Although rooms are London-size and not large, they are also charming, with individualized decoration, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast was terrific, and most importantly, the service and responsive and friendly staff were top-notch.

My partner and I stayed for 5 nights and everything was great. The staff were always very attentive and responsive to our needs (we booked under 2 separate reservations and they made sure to link them so we did not have to change rooms). We were also celebrating an anniversary and they made sure to leave us a nice treat to celebrate. There were several nice common areas in the hotel to relax in, including listening to some live jazz music in the lounge. Overall, a great experience.

This hotel was recommended to us by our kids who have stayed here twice. We loved it! The staff is wonderful and very attentive. The hotel itself is in a great location. The rooms are cozy and the beds are very comfortable. We will plan to stay here again on our next visit to London!
