Science Museum, Smith Centre
Science Museum, Exhibition Road, London, SW7 2DD -
Up to
200 guests
For more than 150 years, the Science Museum has been educating and entertaining visitors and has occupied its current building since 1928. Just as the progress of science is constantly advancing and expanding, so the Science Museum has expanded, continually updating and adding ever more exciting and dynamic exhibitions and venues. Even now, there is a masterplan to create a system of new galleries opening in 2013 and beyond.
Originally constructed in 1890, the Smith Centre has been elegantly preserved to present four spaces of varying size that suit a wide variety of event purposes.
From small meeting rooms for up to 20 guests, to an ample-sized salon accommodating 200 guests for a canapé reception, the Smith Centre provides versatility throughout.
Among the original features is an open-plan courtyard area which can be enjoyed in conjunction with daytime hire of the Salon. The space is also enhanced with a range of hand-picked historical objects from the Science Museum collection, including a replica pressure suit from the last mission to the Moon and the stunning Electrical Engineering Workshop painting by Terence Cuneo.
The Smith Centre is located on the ground floor of the Science Museum and benefits from a fully integrated AV system, enabling a seamless production experience that links to Illuminate.
Hire of the Smith Centre includes: The Salon, The Boardroom, One Meeting Room and the Courtyard.
All of our suppliers are able to work in the Smith Centre, however if you require daytime catering then we would recommend using Benugo Events. Please contact them for bespoke quote on sciencemuseum-events@benugo.com.

March 2025The Science Museum is an absolute must-visit! It’s packed with fascinating exhibits that make science fun and engaging for all ages. From space exploration to interactive experiments, there’s something for everyone. The hands-on galleries are perfect for kids, and the collection of historic innovations is truly impressive. Best of all, entry is free, making it a fantastic day out in London. Highly recommended!

January 2025Visiting the London Science Museum recently brought back so many memories from when I went as a kid—and it’s just as amazing now as it was then! I remember being in awe of the giant rockets and cool gadgets, and this time, I got to relive that excitement all over again. The interactive exhibits are still a highlight, with plenty to keep both kids and adults entertained. From learning about space to exploring cutting-edge technology, there’s so much to discover. It’s fun, educational, and completely free—a perfect day out! If you’ve never been, you’re missing out. And if you went as a kid like me, it’s definitely worth going back for another dose of wonder!

March 2025Accessible and impressive. Good display and explanations. 'Handling display' (1st photo) very effective at bringing articles "to life". Great for kids and adults who refuse to grow up! My new favourite from our 3-day stay in the capital.

February 2025Cool place with so many things to do, even for kids. My 2y old enjoyed The garden in the basement of the museum. It was very busy but there were still plenty of things to do. Don't forget to buy free tickets online.

December 2024Had a great day out with the family. Must be first on your list if you are visiting London with kids. Lovely exhibits related to space, and engineering inventions. Truly amazed with how they have been preserved. There are also many sensory and interactive areas for young kids to play. We had a blast at Power Up. A must if you’re a gamer, We didn’t have to wait too long to get in on a Sunday afternoon. It was crowded but expected on a Xmas weekend. We could carry our food and drinks plus bought some more. Museum shop has very good merchandise. Will need a few visits to see everything. Highly recommended. We will be back!
