The Berkeley, Ballroom
Wilton Place, London, SW1X 7RL -

450 guests
In Wilton Place, just metres from Hyde Park in Knightsbridge, The Berkeley has lavishly decorated event spaces to match its five-star service. In 2017, a refurbishment refreshes that splendour. It could be a meeting, a gala dinner or glamorous party, the light and airy rooms can cater for large or small groups. The Ballroom is the headline space, for large parties, conferences and black-tie dinners. Elsewhere, the Motcomb Room has the feel of a members club, with Harris Tweed-covered walls and brass fittings, while the Knightsbridge Room looks out onto busy west London and is a good spot for a meeting.

stayed a week and had a wonderful time, most especially thanks to nicole and alexandra. gym great, pool great. only negative: was not told about a £60 nightly resort fee so we were surprised to see that on the bill.

Incredible hotel in an ideal location. Easy access to London's key cultural locations and landmarks. Rooms are luxuriant and perfectly appointed. The team is friendly, and service is impeccable without being overbearing. The food and beverage offering is still very good, considering the main restaurant is closed for refurbishment.

This hotel is still very much a work in progress. The check-in process is now next to the cafe, which makes it very noisy. We booked the “romance package“, and they forgot to include the champagne; and instead of providing the Frette bathrobes, they gave us inferior Trielle brand bathrobes. Despite multiple requests to rectify this, we have been completely ignored. The addition of the new Emory Hotel next door has created an utterly disjointed experience. You end up wandering around looking for suitable lifts to use. I think this hotel has lost that local feel that it used to have. The staff are friendly and trying their best, but this hotel still needs work to get things right.

For anyone keen for rooftop experience, let me tell you, it's not worth it. And to be honest the whole experience was a huge let down from a hotel that is meant to be one of the best in the world. We arrived around 20 min before our booking and was told that the guests hadn't left yet, but they would leave shortly and we could get a drink in the downstairs bar emory. We went down and got seated quickly as it wasn't busy. But it took over 5 min to get our menu, 10 min to get our water and our wine never showed up despite waiting for almost 20 min after ordering. As we were now late for the dinner booking we got up and left. The staff in the bar seemed very rushed, running around, and again didn't really see the reason as they had lots of staff and only a handful of tables. We came to the rooftop around 10 past, so later than our booking and 40 min after we had initially let them know we were there. When we got there, we were told that the guests hadn't left yet. So waited another 5 min, and then to be told that the table was just going to be cleared but we could have a look at the view basically. The rooftop itself didn't have much ambience and it was quite dark and tables spread far apart with only a few guests. Lovely view of course. We had to wait for another 15 min for them to remove a few dishes from the table, and then were finally seated. Then it took probably another 10 min before we actually got a menu and of course had to wait to be able to make an order for probably at least 15 min. Food and drinks came quite quickly, but given how simple it is, I would be surprised if it didn't. I asked for a blanket upon ordering which didn't arrive over 1h later when we were almost ready to leave. The whole night was spent just waiting. It cost us 185GBP for 6 small tacos (yes, the price in the menu is per taco so like a 8cm tortilla), guacamole, 3 glasses of rose and 1 margarita. I wasn't too hungry so happy with 2, but for someone who is, you'd need at least 4-5 to fill up, so that's 50-60gbp just for some tacos. Clearly felt like a huge rip off for a very average experience with long waiting times. While the staff were lovely, they are very rushed but things still took so long despite it not being busy and from a hotel like this, anyone would expect more. Parking was easy and they let us park out the front which was handy.
