Had my first time on the road track the other day. The staff were very helpful and the rules are fairly intuitive. Since I went in the middle of the week and in the middle of the day I was lucky enough to have the one-mile circuit to myself. There are toilet and locker facilities on-site as well as a water fountain next to the track to fill up. Also, if you want to buy some bars or liquid, there are a couple of machines by the reception, which is situated on the ground floor. A very enjoyable experience

Track taster with flying lap was fun. Great to be in the hallowed track of the 2012 Olympics. The session started with some training then a bit of a free for all before the flying lap bit. It was good fun but I learned a lot more at the Herne Hill Velodrome taster. However if you just do one you really ought to see the Olympic one!

I was disappointed with the treatment I received from some of the reception staffs. Unfortunately, they came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, particularly if you don’t fit the mold of an 'elite cyclist.' While I understand the need for policies and protocols, basic courtesy and kindness should never be compromised. A little more effort in making all guests, especially new, feel valued and respected would go a long way.
