Ye Olde Cock Tavern is a unique and fascinating pub located on bustling Fleet Street in the City of London. Originally dating back to 1549, the pub has the narrowest frontage of any London pub.
The pub had a refurbishment in 2017 though many of its original features were carefully reconstructed, including the fireplace, its overmantle and the ornamental cockerel, which are believed to be the work of master carver, Grinling Gibbons. They can be viewed today on the first floor of the pub.
When you step inside Ye Olde Cock you’ll find a cosy and comfortable spot to enjoy the company of friends & family. The interior is adorned with traditional timbered beams and dotted with vintage-style green and red leather sofas – a nod to the leather benches of the nearby Houses of Commons and Lords. The pub has a warm and friendly ambience, and a delicious menu of food & cask ales to choose from.
The pub has three attractive function rooms available for parties of all kinds. Whether your special occasion is an anniversary, birthday party or a business function, our team are on hand to help plan your event and ensure every aspect of your celebration runs smoothly.
The top room private conference room is perfect for any occasion, this room has a capacity of 60 guests either for dinner or a standing event, also comes equipped with a private bar.

March 2025Lovely vibe, classic and beautiful. Didn’t try any food, but having a nice drink in this historical pub is more than enough for me.

March 2025Beautiful old pub with lots of history. Stopped by for a quick drink. Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Great service from Nick, friendly, welcoming and engaging (cheers Nick). Definitely worth a visit.

January 2025Lad & Dad up in town to do a bit of research for a play we are putting on so popped into this lovely pub to grab some lunch. Really friendly pub, but note the opening hours, I think it mainly caters for people who work in the area. It’s a Green King, they have a good selection of beer on tap, loads of Gin, decent wine list etc. For food I went for the beef ciabatta & the lad had chicken & bacon. Both were well presented, were a reasonable size and tasty - definitely filled a hole. Very reasonably priced, great service & a nice atmosphere. Would recommend if you find yourself on Fleet Street

February 2025A nice place for a quick break if you are in the area. I went after reading all their claims of its age and history. While it may be all true, this tavern felt like a tourist trap. The ambiance is far from historic or even vintage. I would not return on a future London trip. My cider was tasty and my tart very good.
