Located in the heart of literary Bloomsbury, the Charles Dickens Museum is the perfect setting for an exclusive event in an enchanting historical setting.
An original Georgian townhouse dating back to 1809, Dickens’s ‘house in town’ is dressed in beautiful period style as if Dickens himself had just stepped out the door. The Grade I listed Charles Dickens Museum provides the perfect setting for an atmospheric dinner, elegant drinks reception, private corporate event or as a historical film location.
Spread over five floors, the Museum provides the evocative setting of an intimate Victorian home. Lit with candles, it can transport your guests to a time when Dickens would have walked the halls, entertained in the Dining Room, held court with his own guests in the Drawing Room and given life to his immortal characters in the quietude of his study.
Our historic building is a unique setting for filming and photo shoots.
All filming must be done outside of our general opening hours unless otherwise agreed and be authorised by management.

December 2024Arrived early and we received a warm welcome. It wasn’t too busy probably due to time of year. Spent about two hours walking around much to see about Dickens and many artefacts and pieces of furniture in a house he had lived in. Worth a visit if you are a Dickens fan or are interested in his life.

February 2025This museum is a lot bigger than first thought as it is over 5 floors with at least 2-3 rooms on each floor. It contains various trinkets, furniture, clothing, and other items belonging to Charles Dickens. It is very informative and gives you a look into his past, such as how he lived and where he wrote some of his greatest works. A must-see attraction if you are a fan of the writer! ☆☆☆☆☆

March 2025The Charles Dickens Museum was great, lots of information on Dickinson‘s life and how he lived. We were able to fit this in the break we had at the Royal Mail Museum and waiting for our Mail Train ride. I would strongly suggest fit this museum in with them.

January 2025A nice insight into Dickens' life at this time. We had to wait a little bit to go in due to the number of visitors, but there is a nice cafe at the back where we grabbed tea and a bun before we went in. Tickets are not too expensive (£12.50 for an adult - Jan 2025) and there is a nice gift shop. The team working at the museum are very knowledgeable as well.
