Weddings in the City are becoming an increasingly popular option. Competitive pricing, beautiful architecture and the run of the place on weekends (when all the slickers are safely back in Surrey). Humble Grape on Fleet Street – the bigger and more attractive sister to the Battersea original – is no exception, with high ceilings, exposed-brick walls and dramatic Sir Christopher Wren-designed stone arches. The real draw for wedding venue searchers, though, is its fine selection of new and old world wines, sourced for the most part from sustainable and independent vineyards. Food tends towards tapas-style small plates while a long-table in the sizeable central events space is the place to serve them.

I hadn’t been here in 4 years and was so pleasantly surprised to return. Beyond the excellent food, as usual, the service was above and beyond. Mohamed was a phenomenal server and made us feel so welcome, and the wines were really unique. I have great memories from here and look forward to returning again soon.

Had a fantastic wine tasting class here. We tried four summer wines and our WSET-certified host explained their origins and characteristics. Great atmosphere and we felt very welcomed. Would definitely come again for another event!

I visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening, without booking in advance. They were able to seat us and the restaurant was fairly quiet, although not empty. We were immediately greeted with a smile by a French (?) waiter and then were assisted by an Italian (?) gentleman and an Asian-looking lady. They were all cordial but professional, which complemented the cosy ambience of the restaurant. The hake I got was excellent, although the samphire that came with with it was a bit tough in places (it wasn't pruned properly). I enjoyed my white Veneto chardonnay wine, despite me not being an avid wine drinker and it being quite cheap. The chocolate fondant dessert was also nice, but nothing remarkable. All things considered, I feel that the food was a bit overpriced and the choice wasn't that wide, so I'd recommend checking out the menu in advance if you find yourself coming mainly for the food (it's more of a wine bar). All in all, I would be pleased to return.

A very disappointing experience. The food was good, but the menu is very small/limited. We were there on a Friday night and we know that the City is a much quieter place on Fridays since the pandemic)… When we arrived though there was only one other table in the restaurant and it still took the waiter 20 minutes to even offer us a drink! He was certainly not attentive thereafter either. The manager was much more personable and better at service. At 10 we were asked if we wanted anything else as the kitchen was closing. We had coffees and they had to uncover the coffee machine. My coffee arrived like warm. The manager and waiter seemed to have a small group of friends sitting at the bar for at least the last 1,5 hours of our meal. I got the feeling toward the end that they were keen to clear out and close the restaurant so that they could continue socialising on their own. Overall I would say it was a very disappointing experience and we will not be returning.
