Open all day, all year round, this small chain of bar/restaurants from the Drake & Morgan group is a bit of a chameleon. In winter, warm woodwork, burnished copper and houndstooth blankets lend a cosy feel to the cavernous interiors, while the expansive, plant-filled terraces come into their own during warmer weather. Whether you drop by for a quick pint, meet for after-work bevvies, or bed in for a lazy Saturday session, the drinks list delivers: bottled craft beers include some London-based brews, most wines on the easy-to-navigate list are served by the glass, and the cocktail menu covers timeless and more unexpected sips (try the rum- and amaretto-laced S’mores, made with marshmallow syrup). Meanwhile, the globe-trotting menu cater to all tastes – think charcuterie boards, char-grilled Asian-style tuna, Wagyu burgers, fish pie and pecan tart. A savvy choice that never feels too exclusive.

January 2025Highly recommend! We already went 2 times; Monsters Inc and Beauty and the Beast and both were superb! Really fun, very well thought, creative, detail oriented and incredibly executed experience! Staff, the food, the service was excellent! I cannot wait to go back again!

January 2025Booked on to see ‘Home Alone 2’ for the Taste film experience. Whilst the atmosphere, service and entertainment were impeccable, the food did lack in terms of taste and quality. I recommend coming here for the experience to see your favourite films, as it is still a fun day out.

February 2025We popped into The Refinery for a pre-show meal before a concert in The Barbican. It's perfectly located for that purpose and worked out well for us with fast, friendly service and tasty food. You do have to venture inside to find the tables though because much of the space is given over to being a busy bar. In terms of food we kept it pretty simple and I went for the fish pie with some onion rings. These were both very enjoyable and efficiently prepared. It would have been nice if the pie could have been a little larger or delivered with a side of vegetables (since it costs £16.95) but this wasn't a deal-breaker.
