All of our rooms enjoy natural daylight from floor to ceiling windows, black-out blinds for presentations, and sensory features such as walls of silver birch trees or a large scarlet circular table.
Each room is named after a fictional spy from British film or TV, and contains a collection of the spy curiosities (fencing masks, chemistry sets, crossbows and black boxes) to match. South Place hotel can become your personal playground, where you and your guests can eat, drink and be merry.
Featuring classic, neutral décor, these versatile spaces are the perfect blank canvas for your unique vision. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the rooms with natural light, highlighting the elegant dark wood paneling and creating a warm, inviting ambiance. The combination of polished wooden floors & delicate cream organza curtains sets the stage for a sophisticated dining experience. Purdey & Steed can comfortably host up to 100 guests for a seated dinner or ceremony, and up to 150 for a standing reception.

March 2025Fantastic hotel focused on incredible hotel services. Benefits from being near a lot of great tourist spots, but not on top of them. Highly recommend!

April 2025My wife and I were married here in April of 2025, and it was honestly only through the hard work of the events team at the hotel that it was all possible. From the moment we met our event planners, Nikola and Sharif, we knew we were in safe hands. They are two of the most professional and organised people we could have asked for and the work they did to make our day a reality was truly above and beyond. Both of them went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our day went off without a hitch and both were always available to us no matter what we needed. As for the day itself – the staff were exceptional from minute 1. They were polite, courteous and handled anything the day threw at them. Everyone, together, made our day the happiest we could have asked for. We cannot recommend the South Place Hotel enough. All of our guests from our wedding walked away talking about how incredible it is, from the rooms to the event itself. If you ever get the chance to hold an event at the South Place Hotel, do not hesitate.

February 2025I was blown away by South Place Hotel. We had a junior suite, and it was incredible. The bed perfect, the amenities were superb - Dyson hairdryer, umbrella, iron, slippers, dressing gown, sofa, radio, etc. all in the room so no need to call the desk to ask for anything. Shower and bath were the best I've ever had. We ate at both restaurants which were excellent, particularly Angler, and all the staff were polished. Will absolutely return.

April 2025We had dinner here and the food was really below par. The crispy cornflake chicken thigh was nice but not sure it was £14 nice even for the city. Flat iron steak requested at medium rare and came out well done. The waiter asked how the meal was and I told him it was well over done, but no apology or response apart from an "oh" and a sad face. Mrs had the mussles which smelt a bit funny and not fresh so left pretty hungry. For a Friday night it was empty but thats the city for you I suppose. For £85 spent (3 courses and water only) I would have rather gone to many other places than South Place.
