During our recent visit to London, we decided last minute to experience a performance at Shakespeare’s Globe and managed to get standing tickets—what an incredible atmosphere! As ‘Groundlings’ in the open-air yard, we stood just feet away from the stage, completely immersed in the action, just as audiences would have in Shakespeare’s time. The energy of the performers and the interaction with the crowd made for an unforgettable experience. Shakespeare’s Globe is a faithful reconstruction of the original 1599 theatre, which was famously associated with the Bard himself. Destroyed by fire in 1613 and later demolished, the current Globe was rebuilt in the 1990s near its original site, thanks to the vision of American actor and director Sam Wanamaker. The design stays true to the Elizabethan era, with its thatched roof, wooden structure, and open-air setting—so be prepared for the British weather! Standing tickets (just £5) offer not only the most authentic experience but also the best views, with the action happening all around you. Unlike traditional theatres, there’s no barrier between actors and audience, making it an incredibly dynamic and engaging performance. If you love theatre, history, or just want a unique London experience, seeing a play at Shakespeare’s Globe is a must. Whether you book in advance or grab a last-minute standing ticket, you’re in for a magical night of storytelling in one of the most atmospheric venues in the city.

I absolutely love Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Visiting this iconic venue is like stepping back in time, and the rich history surrounding the theatre adds an extra layer of magic to the experience. The architecture, inspired by the original 16th-century design, creates an authentic and immersive setting that makes every visit unforgettable. The performances here are consistently spectacular. The actors are incredibly talented, breathing new life into Shakespeare’s works with passion and precision. Whether you're a die-hard Shakespeare fan or a newcomer, there's something deeply moving about watching these timeless plays performed in such an atmospheric space. What’s also exciting is the variety of alternative and modern performances on offer. A standout for me was “Queening Shakespeare”—a bold, innovative take on classic material that brought a fresh perspective while still honoring the spirit of the original texts. It was creative, thought-provoking, and really cool to witness. Overall, the Globe offers a unique blend of tradition and innovation. The energy in the open-air theatre, especially on a warm evening, is simply unbeatable. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting London or looking to reconnect with the power of live performance.

Logically, I understand that this isn't the original Globe Theatre. But this was recreated with such meticulousness, such detail. The tour guides are so deeply knowledgeable about everything, and truly immerse you in the history. It was such an incredibly fun and educational tour, and the gift shop is a delight. So worth the trip.

One of my favourite sights in London. The guided tour is both educational and entertaining. The restaurant (the Swan) does not live up to the standard of the rest of the place, but if you are in London, the theatre is worth a visit. There are plenty of nice restaurants between the Globe and the London Eye.

Disclaimer had a few people asking me, this isn’t the original theater as that burned down along time ago lol . however this is a very close replica . I Wasn’t able to watch a show but I took the tour at the globe. If you are a Shakespeare/theater fan then you will truly enjoy this as it also has a mini museum with fun facts, quotes, and props you could take pictures with. The price was a little expensive for the tour however, the money goes towards supporting the theater and the actors and actresses. Also, there’s a Starbucks right in front of the theater so obviously don’t buy their expensive drinks/food. Lol 🎭
