As ever, German chef Rainer Becker and Italian designer Claudio Silvestrin made Japan their muse for this fourth link in the Roka group. In its two smart spaces, texture is all important: look out for porphyry stone, tanned leathers and stained-grey timber. Set between Covent Garden and Somerset House, the restaurant makes a big play of its robata grill, which dominates the open kitchen in the middle of the main dining room. The inviting bar serves cocktails in handmade clay vessels and is a good spot for a working lunch. Its display walls showcase the group’s range of shochu tonics. Both spaces invite groups for sit-down dinners.

Great sushi in a pleasant setting, making it a solid option in the area. While it’s not authentic Japanese cuisine and the restaurant could use a bit more personality, the atmosphere is still lovely, and the food is consistently good. The wagyu gunkan is a standout and my personal favourite alongside the black cod and sesame spinach.

It's been a while since I've been to one of their restaurants, and this location feels a bit more like a high-end bar or club, similar to some of the restaurants in Shard. Decided to go for the tasting menu, and it did not disappoint everything was delicious, fresh, substantial, and beautifully presented with fine attention to detail. My only criticism was that when food was brought to my table, I did not receive a proper description of the dishes, as the servers either spoke to fast, did not explain properly or/and the music was a little too loud.

Came here for a birthday meal and it was amazing. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was good, and the service was fantastic. They had lots of gluten free options, and the staff really looked after me with allergies and were very knowledgeable about cross contamination. Every item that we ordered they would talk us through what was safe for me and what wasn’t. Would definitely recommend!
