February 2025I stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a course for work. Room was clean and comfy and had all i needed. Staff were amazing, they were really friendly and made sure everything was just right for me. Wendy, Angel and Poppy served my evening meals and they were so lovely and attentive, Liam in the mornings was always so chirpy and by the 3rd morning he knew my breakfast order, which made it feel personal and not like I was ' just another customer'. It's hard being away from family and home, but this hotel made it more bearable, thank you.

February 2025We didn’t stay over, but we booked in for Sunday lunch on my birthday. And honestly it’s the best roast I’ve her had! The food was unreal and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. Particularly when it came to ordering with food allergies. They took the allergy seriously, and provided the allergen booklet immediately without me having to ask, and there were plenty of options for everyone. My dog even enjoyed a pup cup on the house! Thank you for making my birthday visit special, we will be back very soon ❤️

January 2025Consistency has always been my issue with the restaurant, especially considering the premium prices they charge. But happy to report that things have really improved! Have been a few times to take advantage of the 50% off in January and the food was excellent! Service is still very slow but I'm willing to put that down to the food being fresh, and the staff are lovely. Everything I've had was delicious. That said, the prices are on the high side and I can't see myself visiting for a meal very often when there's so many good options down South Road. As a wedding photographer I've also shot here a few times and wholeheartedly recommend it for that, it's a beautiful venue and run excellently.

February 2025Note that this review is for a meal only, not for a stay at the hotel. Wife and I had fish n chips x 2, a pint of the Lake's own lager and a double vodka and diet coke. Drinks are expensive (they don't do Smirnoff, only Grey Goose and some other artisan stuff) . Only had the one drink each. Fish and chips almost perfect. Great batter and fish well coooked and seasoned, and hot. Chips were hot and tasty. Pity the peas were stone cold. I mean stone cold, not warm. How can you get the simplest of dishes wrong? Beats me. The fish and the chips were very, very nice though. However, the only reason I wont be returning, expensive drinks accepted, is the addition of a service charge, Not acceptable. Ever. Pay your staff a fair wage. Its not that I'm tight-fisted, we always leave a tip of of between 10-15% anyway. But then, that's our choice. Not yours. The service charge was 10%, I think. Its tucked away nicely at the bottom of the bill. So, if you don't mind being charged twice (the price you pay for the meal already covers costs and provides a decent profit), I would recommend the fish and chips, but make sure you ask for hot mushy peas. It will run expensive - and not particularly good value - for a family though. You might find better on South Road, which is nearby.

February 2025Currently writing this at 6:30am in room 6 and been awake since 5:30am with the noise from the gym below! Loud music, loud gym members, shouting and dropping weights etc! I have been downstairs to speak to the night staff who went to ask the gym to turn down the music and it just got louder. We had booked to stay again here as overall it is a lovely place but we have cancelled it! There is no mention on the hotel website about the rooms being over a gym that is open at 5:30am! We would not stay here again and unfortunately wouldn’t recommend it because of this!
