Nestled in an idyllic part of the Scottish Borders, Thirlestane Castle is a magnificent 16th century castle set in a meadow landscape. Family home to the Duke of Lauderdale, it is one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland and still remains home to the Maitland family today.
Thirlestane Castle is available for weddings, corporate events, meetings, private dining and celebrations. Just 35 minutes south of Edinburgh it's easily accessible just off the A68.
This recently refurbished, Victorian-era kitchen on the upper ground floor has a vaulted ceiling and still contains the 19th century range cookers which provide an interesting focal point. This space has a more rustic, relaxed and contemporary feel to the rest of the castle. Level access available.

September 2024Thirlestane Castle is an incredible place to visit. The history of the place is truly magnificent. The guide was superb, very knowledgeable and gave a fantastic in depth tour of the castles. There was so much to see and the decor in the rooms was quite magnificent. Well worth a visit. Superb.
