I booked a spa weekend at trying and had the most relaxing time. I had my facial done by Lindsey and it was one of the best facials I have ever had. The face massage was so relaxing. I would highly recommend Lindsey if anyone books a facial at trying champneys. Natasha did a massage treatment for me which was amazing too. She was very good and I definitely felt relaxed after that

I stayed here overnight for the first time, and I paid an offer price. I think for the price I paid with the discount, my stay was lovely, but for the normal price it is overpriced. The food was great , and breakfast , lunch, and dinner had good options. The rooms are very average, I had a lovely garden view room. Lovely for the stay, but nothing to write home about. There were lots of facilities in terms of steam / sauna / hot tubs / plunge pool . I think there was one too many relaxation rooms and they could be converted to other spa facilities (salt room / fire and ice room / infrared sauna etc) this is the main reason I think that the actual price of the stay is overpriced, everything available here is available at my home gym and they could really have other spa facilities due to the nature of the resort it would make sense. I had a massage at my stay, which I enjoyed. There are also classes available at an additional cost (not too expensive, but I think they should be included in the price, to be honest). Overall, I'd give it an 8/10. I had an enjoyable, relaxing stay the food and my treatment was what made the stay great for me. I wish there were more facilities like i said - there seems to be only 1 outdoor hot tub on such a big site ? They need to just add more spa facilities as suggested to make the price point more worthwhile. To summarise, I would go again at the discounted rate, but I would never pay full price for the stay / experience.

I took my mum for a 1 night spa break at tring this week and was disappointed with what is meant to be a luxury retreat is average at best. Firstly when we checked in, were given no orientation of the facility, we were not shown to our room and the instructions given to find it were extremely vague, as well as this were given no information about meal times other than evening dinner or where to go for the treatments we booked. The spa facilities themselves were minimal; one small spa pool with a variety of jets, two hot tub (one inside/one outside), they also have sauna and stem room which were smaller than you’d get in the average gym. On top of this the stem room was broken on Friday (22/02/25) therefore could not be used. Further, many of the towels had brown stains on (see photo) and there was not enough beds in the spa area for the guest capacity, nor was there enough tables in the cafe at peak times. The bedrooms, particularly the bathroom were tired the tiles/grouting were a mess, like scale on the tapes/shower and the side of the bath just seemed to be glued back on. The corridors leading to the bedrooms were run down, with many marked walls, as well as a whole in one of them. The overall cleanliness of the facility was poor, lots of dust on lamp shades, dirt of stairways leading to bedrooms and to top it off the changing rooms were filthy. Other than that the gym/fitness facilities were great, restaurant staff were friendly and attentive and food was amazing. My mum enjoy a lovely back, neck and shoulder massage. I’m glad I booked on the Black Friday deal as it certainly wasn’t worth the full price.

I very rarely write reviews but after years of longing to experience Champneys I was left extremely disappointed with my stay. I work in the luxury hospitality sector and this is not the service you expect from a "luxury spa resort". 1) Customer Service: Is lacking, we really struggled to make contact before our visit to amend our treatments. As well as during our stay, we had to go down to reception as they were not answering our calls. 2) Unorganised operations - We waited 20 minutes to be seated for dinner and a further 25 minutes for our order to be taken as there wasn't enough staff. My partner actually had to get up from his seat and approach a waiter to ask if we could be served! 3) Misleading customers on the room offering: No proper double bed – it was two single beds on wheels poorly pushed together (this was not stated before booking). 4) Hygiene: In rooms needs more attention, we found 4 hairs in our bath getting ready for dinner. The room and spa areas were also very tired and outdated for the price. 5) Overbooking: The spa area is too small to accommodate the volume of people present during my stay and same with the queues for the restaurant at dinner time. 6) Low quality treatment: Given this is meant to be "home of the spas" the massage was not up to a luxurious spa standard. The masseuse was lovely and very welcoming but unfortunately, I do not feel she had enough experience. I never like to complain but I felt it was necessary to provide honest feedback of my experience at Champneys. Especially as there are a lot of similar reviews online, reflective of the concerns I have outlined. I have written to Champneys, none of my concerns were addressed and all I was offered to compensate was a discounted return stay. I would urge others not to waste your time or be fooled by online influencers promoting this brand as a luxury escape.

Appalling from start to finish! We visited for my birthday this weekend just gone. Before we even got into our room we had to trek back to reception to get our key card working properly. The room was run down and below average for the price we paid. Mouldy tiles, no shower gel in the shower, rotten door, no iron. No charging next to the bed. My partner was refused a hot drink (additional purchases of £4.25) in the Terrace cafe. Staff allowed him to stand there, looked at him and then their phone, had a conversation with colleague before saying they were no longer serving due to closing 5.55pm. When I arrived at 5.30 the cakes were already removed from display and it took 15 minutes to receive my coffee. Extremely rude. The hotel did not inform guests that they were filming on Sunday 23rd March so we were woken up by a film crew outside our bedroom window popping champagne. Spa facilities were not accessible until 10am due to this which was frustrating as we had paid to use the facilities from 6.30am. Hotel staff said this had been booked last minute and we had to explain this is unethical as guests were not given information to consent to being captured in robes by the film crew who were everywhere-- no information about if or how images of guests will be used provided. At breakfast we were seated and then told off for taking pastries (apparently only for day guests) when there was no clear sign or instruction given. These were also not available on the overnight guest breakfast however mackerel, onion and chillies were? Hotel staff said they were changing to a healthier menu, despite serving cakes etc in the café? After discussing this with the female manager in the dining area, I was told that it was receptions job to inform me of what area of the buffet I could eat from. Very rude and uncaring manner and being chastised in front of fellow guests at breakfast was not the start to my birthday I had hoped for. By the time we could access the spa due to overcrowding at 1pm the lockers in female changing were all broken despite us having to checkout at 11am and needing to store valuables. Had to visit reception twice to get support for this which was incredibly frustrating. I left here feeling more stressed than when I arrived. Absolutely appalling service and facitilies with guests being short changed out of their package to prioritise filming for a dating show. Avoid and spend your money elsewhere.
