March 2025My first trip by myself to another country, I was surprised with how wonderful this hotel was. This hotel being in the midst of a road and into the downtown district of St. Albans is convenient and the staff and rooms are amazing. Worth my money and time.

December 2024I had high expectations of The Aubrey Park Hotel as I have known many people recommend it over the years and it is supposed to be 4 star. The website looked nice and I thought an independent hotel would offer more character than other chain hotels. We have been living in a grotty caravan during a house renovation and I thought it would be nice to stay with my family in a local hotel for the Christmas holiday so we booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. Firstly we had to walk to the furthest part of the hotel to get to our rooms. The hallways were shabby, dull and musky. Our rooms were shabby, dull and smelt faintly of smoke. We were told the restaurant was closed but that we could get snacks at the bar. The bar was an oversized room with zero character and poorly lit. We had to pay for overpriced sandwiches and poor coffee at the bar which they wouldn’t put on our room tab? I should have realised what kind of establishment this was at that point. We spent one very uncomfortable night in the room that was too warm and the mattress was rock hard. The walls were very thin and we could hear movement in adjoining rooms. The view from our room was ugly and the security on the window was broken. As we were on the ground floor I did not feel safe leaving our belongings in the room. We went out Christmas Day and came back in the evening. The doors were open but no one was on reception and another guest was trying to steer an intoxicated women who looked no stranger to bedrooms through the lobby. We packed our bags and left the hotel preferring to return to our caravan than spend another night in this disgusting place.
