The Buttery is one of the most well known restaurants in Scotland - a real Glaswegian institution. We took over in 2007 to create Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery. It has the relaxed old-school feel of a by-gone era. The atmosphere is unrivalled - you just won't want to leave!
One of Glasgow’s best-loved and most enduring restaurants, the Buttery has gone from strength to strength since becoming part of the Two Fat Ladies group.
The interior celebrates formal Scottish luxury, with oak and mahogany, stained glass and tartan carpet bringing a unique intimate feel to the bar and the dining room, whilst still keeping a relaxed atmosphere.

March 2025Delicious food, friendly and helpful service, amazing cocktails and wine, and beautiful decor. This restaurant has been here as long as I can remember so it's obviously doing something right!! A must visit!

March 2025Elegant service of delicious food in atmospheric dining rooms with dark wood panelling. We’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints whether dining with friends, or looking for a romantic evening together. Cullen skink was beautifully presented and the Chicken Stuffed with Haggis & a Whisky sauce was tender and flavourful, the side order of Carrots with Almonds and Maple glaze was outstandingly good.

January 2025Service was brilliant, properly professional hospitality. Our servers were so lovely and helpful, catered to anything we asked. The interior was really cosy and I enjoyed the music and seating. They also brought out some tablet and chocolate for free as it was my partner’s birthday which was unexpected and kind. The only disappointment was the food! I had a whiskey sour cocktail which I didn’t enjoy, but won’t hold that against The Buttery, it was my taste. For starters we had the fig salad, and the scallop dish. The scallops were nice but the sauce didn’t have much flavour to it. The fig dish for me didn’t get the textures right. Following that I had the halibut for main. This was a big disappointment… the fish was dry, the sauce wasn’t nice, the potatoes were abundant and flavourless. The presentation left a lot to be desired particularly on the mains. Everything was stacked up with the sauce poured freely. I would maybe return based on the great service, maybe I caught the kitchen on a bad day. But for the price as well the food didn’t do it for me.
