The Buttery is one of the most well known restaurants in Scotland - a real Glaswegian institution. We took over in 2007 to create Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery. It has the relaxed old-school feel of a by-gone era. The atmosphere is unrivalled - you just won't want to leave!
One of Glasgow’s best-loved and most enduring restaurants, the Buttery has gone from strength to strength since becoming part of the Two Fat Ladies group.

Absolutely fantastic meal to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Service was fantastic and a few extra touches due to our children phoning ahead to say it was a special occasion and paying towards our drinks. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing food and could not recommend it enough! The monkfish melts in your mouth and the halibut was perfectly cooked. Even if you’re not big on eating beef, the ‘beef and brisket’ was tender and well done. If you’re looking to try black pudding for the first time, their ‘duck and black pudding’ starter was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful, even providing a complimentary dessert taster for me as I had gone after graduation. The decor and ambiance elevated the whole experience. Everyone in my party was more than pleased and we would definitely eat here again.

I found the oldest restaurant in Glasgow completely accidentally, as I was walking around the city. The staff is amazingly professional and they looked after me. The food was proper fine dinning at very good prices. Highly recommended to anyone who is going to visit Glasgow! Last but not least try the whisky ice cream, it's very special!

How does this place not have a Michelin Star? The food was sublime. The staff were wonderful and gave excellent recommendations for wine pairings with each meal. My only small criticism is the lighting. I had one very bright light pointed right at me while the rest of the place was too dull and shadowy. Overall it was excellent. Value for money on both menus too made for an easy decision to return again soon at the beginning of August for another birthday celebration.

My husband had booked to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Neither of us had ever been, I’d never heard of the restaurant. What a lovely experience I look forward to repeating. We arrived quite early and the staff were very accommodating, seating us near the bar for a drink. We ordered drinks and were able to look at food menus, and ordered while we waited for our table to become available. I tried the salmon to start, then the venison. I enjoyed everything I ate, it was just so beautiful. The triple cooked chips were so good. After a good rest we were tempted into dessert. I can highly recommend the apple crumble. The staff were friendly and attentive, the restaurant itself was warm and comfortable. I don’t think there’s a negative thing I could say about the experience. We’re only in Scotland a few times a year but we’ll definitely be returning.
