October 2024Very disappointing and unfortunate experience. My wife and I were traveling to Scotland for the first time to celebrate our anniversary, and after 16 hours of travel from the United States were told upon arrival, at 7:00pm, that the hotel has a policy where they regularly overbook rooms and did not have a room for us. We had booked the room over the phone 6 weeks in advance, and received email confirmation that everything was set to go. They also did not proactively reach out to communicate this issue, so we didn't learn we were out of luck until we were standing in the lobby, exhausted and ready to unwind. The front desk staff offered to make a reservation elsewhere, but offered no further options to remedy the situation. From an establishment of this caliber I would have expected better, and this was a really disappointing way to start our celebratory trip to Scotland.
