Originally built in 1829 by James Campbell the building has been home to a Prime Minister and was re-designed in 1911 as the headquarters for the Corporation of Education; the unique cage lift and elegant stone staircase were added alongside stained-glass windows, tiles and golden ‘lion rampant’ etchings on the walls. The building was category B listed in 1970 by Historic Scotlan dand became part of ABode Hotels in 2005.
Incorporating the ABode collection’s trademark Comfortable, Desirable, Enviable and Fabulous room categories, each of the 59 guestrooms offers a distinct style with quality and comfort at their core and a luxurious bed and the clean lines of a contemporary ensuite bathroom as standard.

November 2024Really nice breakfast!! However the overall room cleaned not great. Had to wait approximately 20min for management approval before entering the room after the 2pm check in timeslot. After the management check found uncleaned items. A bit of a let down after paying price.

November 2024Worst experience ever, disgusting and hygiene level 0. Definitely this place is not a 4 star hotel. Dust everywhere, the toilet bowl full of shit splashes. Shower full of hair. Bathroom smells sewage which will penetrate your nose while sitting in the room. Worst decision I made during my visit to Glasgow, although it was 1 night, but it will it’s impact will definitely last forever

November 2024absolutely shocking experience at the abode hotel, was there for an 18th birthday and was disgusted with the rooms being dusty and crumbs everywhere. towels that came in black bags were soaking wet. bathroom door barely closes over half way, most of the staff were kind and polite apart from two of the managers who really couldn’t care at all and refused to help with anything
