Originally established in 1862 by Robert Cooke in East London, F. Cooke remains the oldest established eel and pie house family still in existence today.
After 160 years and much demand, 5th generation Robert Cooke has brought the F. Cooke legacy to Essex. It now exists outside of London for the very first time in the city of Chelmsford. Using traditional elements of a classic pie and mash shop, F. Cooke has combined it with a warm and modern feel to create a relaxed quintessential environment, ideal to use as a blank canvas to meet your brief.
Many famous faces have been through our doors such as David Beckham, Harry Styles, Kano, Chase & Status, Michel Roux Jr and Anthony Bourdain plus many more...
This stunningly spacious venue lends itself perfectly to any type of event. Whether it be a special birthday, engagement party, networking event, workshop space, filming or children's party; F. Cooke is easily decorated to suite any occasion. Having hosted many DJs, live bands, children's entertainers, wakes, workshops and filming for historically British programmes, F. Cooke can easily create the perfect event space. This roomy area is ideal for seated or standing events and can cater both with and without food. With expert mixologist included, this licensed venue has professional staff that will go above and beyond to make sure your event is seamlessly hassle free.
F. Cooke was first established over 160 years ago by Robert Cooke and remains a family run business, now under 5th generation Robert Cooke. As a brand with heritage and history dating back to 1862, this unique brand offers its famous pie and mash or hot and cold buffet options to party goers.

According to the website it was open today (Monday) but after driving from Maldon especially, it was closed. When I phoned I was told that they were shut Mondays in the summer. It was supposed to be a treat for my 75 year old wife who loves pie and mash. A waste of my petrol and time.
