I stayed at the County Hotel for two nights very recently...... Bed and Breakfast. My stay was to celebrate a big family Platinum Wedding Anniversary event. I feel I have a special need to congratulate all the wonderful service I received. Everything to me was so marvellous in all aspects. I live alone, and was treated with so much respect, help, and pure kindness. I have elderly family from that event in the area, so hopefully will book again with you in a future visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and everthing in my mind was 100%. All staff were well trained, and knew their duties, and responsibilities. Two very special people I'd like to be recognised, and congratulated, are 1. ANDREEA a fantastic Receptionist, and an extremely passionate employee at her job, plus a delightful personality....so very sweet! 2. ELLIE the Supervisor waitress, whom works her socks off, whilst being so efficient, with nothing being too much trouble.... and STILL smiles. Both were, and are, so passionate in their work. I would love to know that they are rewarded in some way for their great sincerity, and passion to their guest! Sincere thanks for my stay, peace of mind, and safety.....I enjoyed every minute....a real treat thank you all. Gill R

I'm here for business, but would be happy to stay here for personal travel. Fantastic location near shopping, train station, and sights. The staff have been uniformly excellent. Food in the restaurant is good. The room clean and larger than I expected, based on some other reviews. Convenient, excellent service, great location. Ok, maybe the water pressure could be better, but I think that's a Chelmsford thing, not a hotel thing.

Having stayed here for a week this hotel is a real mixed bag of experiences. The first day I had no hot water, the next day and every day after the water was extremely hot and the shower was difficult to adjust because the markings has disappeared. The water pressure was great though! The room was spacious but worn and tired and the bathroom had a funny smell. There is no air conditioning but a sturdy and powerful fan was provided. The staff are helpful and friendly enough although when I came to check out I had a hot coffee, breakfast box and large suitcase and the one member of staff downstairs didn't offer to open a door for me. Whilst the breakfast box (bacon sandwich and pastries) was provided and appreciated, it was fridge cold. I couldn't eat the bacon sandwich. The parking is £9/night and you're not given any indication of how long you can park there for. The food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner is hit and miss. One busy morning they had run out of sourdough toast (fair enough) but instead of telling me this, brought out my breakfast on an English muffin. First world problems here but I really don't like muffins and I was offered normal toast but by the time the toast would have been ready everything else would have been cold so I said no. I wasn't impressed. The main courses in the restaurant are fantastic! Seabass and rack of lamb cooked to perfection. The starters however are not worth it. I paid £9 for *4* pieces of mediocre calamari.
