Amazing hotel lovely and clean, beds are a bit soft, but great staff and breakfast was basic. Can rent umbrellas for £2 for 48hrs which is great. Not far from the main tourist parts of Edinburgh and very quiet. Absolutely gorgeous restaurant round the corner well worth going too. Would go back.

I was concerned regarding staff approach to a fire alarm in the early hours of the morning. The fire alarm went off at 4 am and we went outside to the assembly point, staff fumbled around with the alarm unsure how to stop it. We were allowed into the building but a second alarm went off about 15 mins later for only a few seconds and stopped with no announcement. Staff did not check that all guests were safely out of the building. I looked out my window to see the other guests outside at the fire assembly point. There was no appointed fire Marshall and staff did not seem to have a clue what they were supposed to do. We got up and headed downstairs again and when I asked a staff member what was going on he continued to walk past me, completely ignoring my question. We were later told the fire brigade were contacted but refused to attend. I would like someone from the hotel to contact me regarding this completely unacceptable approach to fire safety. This is an unfortunate experience as the hotel was clean, comfortable and in a good location

Our stay at the Residence Inn in Edinburgh was underwhelming, especially given its supposed 4-star rating. While the location is excellent and makes it easy to explore the city, the amenities fell short of expectations. The bathroom was particularly disappointing, with black mold visible around the shower tray—a detail that shouldn't be overlooked in a hotel of this rating. The overall experience felt more like a basic motel than a 4-star hotel. If location is your top priority, this might work, but if you're expecting the quality and service of a true 4-star, you may want to look elsewhere.
