Recently spent 5 nights at this great hotel . Clean, quiet warm rooms. Comfortable beds. Plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Towels and bathrobes supplied.Tea and coffee making facilities, regularly refreshed.Friendly and helpful staff. Special thanks to Kris on reception. Fantastic breakfasts. Huge choice, including hot which was always beautifully cooked. Great location, regular buses nearby into Edinburgh centre . Highly recommend. Look forward to going back.

BEWARE! Our family room did not look at all like on the pictures! On the pictures it looks very charming and cozy but in reality it’s rather old (old carpet, old black furniture, a missing curtain), not so cozy (no cozy decorative pillows nor throws). Luckily the bedding was very comfortable and the bathroom renovated (although they did it in a modern way and didn’t keep the charm of the old style like on the picture) The housekeeping was very basic, surprising for a 4 star hotel (they didn’t clean our table which had a few crumbs from the kids eating a biscuit, they didn’t add toilet paper and facial tissue). Adding to the disappointment: the entrance doors are hugly thick automatic gray doors, contrasting with the charming facade of the building, the breakfast was empty when we show up 25 min before the end so we changed plans. So overall ok but not at all what we expected

Lovely place. Bang average service. Imagine a wonderful airbnb but you have to talk to a depressed neighbour every once in a while.
