Brilliant staff and great rooms. Really comfortable and central to the old streets of Edinburgh. Breakfast is great. Overall, a very professional and highly recommended stay.

The Grassmarket Hotel is the perfect location to tour Edinburgh Scotland. It’s right in the heart of everything ,so you can walk to dinner , do sightseeing, and if so inclined partake in a whisky! Bars are close by with one in the actual Hotel downstairs. It’s clean , not to fancy, and just right because face it your not coming here to stay in the room for very long just sleep , shower change clothes , and get out there to do some touring. The Royal Mile is very close by with the Castle just at the end of the street.

I think that there's a few points of improvement that would've made this a 5 star review; however, there's a lot of a great things about this establishment that prompts recommending it to others. Pros: 1. Location, location, location. 2. Staff friendliness. 3. The integration with the bar downstairs for breakfast and such. 4. The free wifi. 5. The overall room state. Cons: 1. The mattresses were effectively Springs that lost their ability to support anything, and were incredibly uncomfortable. 2. The inability to control the AC results in the room incredibly uncomfortable. (Fortunately, the window was able to be cracked to let some cool air in.) Overall a great value and would recommend.

Rooms are ok but very loud rock music from 22 to 1 am coming from the pub downstairs. personnel did not help as all the double rooms are all having the same problem. It’s an hostel with people throwing up in the stairs coming from the pub… the one star is for the good position.

The only reason this place received a single star instead of zero is the great location. Otherwise, this $300 closet sized room was a total rip off. 1. this was literally the smallest hotel Room I’ve ever seen. The double bed was touching 3 walls. That means the room was barely bigger than a double sized bed. It was truly insane. There was no where to put suitcases the room was so small. 2. Good luck falling asleep before 1 am. That’s when the bar attached to the hotel lobby closes. Their booming bass is impossible to drown out even with white noise. 3. The hotel is a maze and only half of the rooms are elevator accessible. Enjoy walking up multiple flights of stairs with heavy suitcases. Would not recommend! Save your money and sleep elsewhere.
