Lovely hotel, really helpful staff. Great location to go to Edinburgh takes 1 hour on the bus and late bus back from Edinburgh. So much more cheaper than staying in Edinburgh. Scenery round Dunbar is stunning. Quaint little town

Lovely hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. Great location for Edinburgh and the lowlands with some lovely coastal walks. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was because the shower pressure in our room (3) was really quite bad. Really weak with about half of the shower head holes working. Not sure if it's a local area water pressure issue or something internal to the hotel/room. Can still shower but it's weak. Don't turn on a tap when in the shower otherwise you'll end up without any water! Lovely hotel though, definitely recommend.

We visited the Bayswell Hotel this week and stayed in the hot tub suite. It's a very attractive historic hotel, nicely decorated room with a superb view of the bass rock and Dunbar coastline. Perfect for a romantic retreat for a few days. The hotel staff were friendly and did a great job. I have only one criticism. As a ex professional athlete I've eaten the same type of breakfast for over 30 years, and it is an important part of my day. It doesn't matter where in the world we've travelled to or if it's a small b&b or chain hotel, I order the same breakfast - 8 poached eggs, bacon and porridge. I don't eat cereals or pastries, sauces or anything else on offer in a cooked breakfast like sausages, black puddings, haggis or potato scones etc. On this occasion, I was told that the limit I could order was 4 eggs because the breakfast was included. I appreciate that to some people 8 is excessive but comparatively it is less than a full breakfast that most people would eat, and the extra cost to the hotel is around 60p for the extra eggs. Unfortunately that one decision by the hotel will affect us returning because, like I said it's very important to my day. I think it was a mistake to assume everyone eats a high carb breakfast and a bit shortsighted on their part. They offer a very high standard full Scottish breakfast and buffet but just a bit more flexibility there would have made this a glowing review. We paid £472 for two nights in October.
