A very pleasant stay. I didn't end up seeing as much of this place as I hoped due to some travel plans going askew on my end (flat tire). But what I did experiance was lovely. I got a light dinner here which was really good. The souffle in particular was amazing. The room was really big and the staff was very kind when I had some trouble with the lock on the door and around the trouble with my flat tire. If you do stay, be sure to leave yourself enough time to fully enjoy the amenities. Pay attention to the signs on the road instead of google maps when trying to get here!

From the first moment we arrived we were met with the most biggest of smiles. Tia checked us in and greeted us - nothing was an issue and she made us feel very special.  She went above her role and helped us with some personal concerns regarding my pregnancy and items i needed. Throughout our stay one thing stood out - customer care. Everyone quite simply went out of their way to help us, to guide us on things such as activities and food, but more importantly the wonderful staff took time to get to know us. An example of this was Danielle from Smiths arranging for our dog (who has colitis) to have pasta was above and beyond and her pure passion for customer service stood out - if you want to see perfection, Danielle is it.  We can certainly recommend Smith's for food and they catered and changed items to accommodate my allergy and pregnancy cravings.  The concierge were the most loveliest, happiest people I've met. They not only helped with every need, but they too went above and beyond by supporting me as I'm high risk pregnant.  To ensure I did not miss out on the stunning grounds i was offered buggy lifts to ensure I was not over doing it. They welcomed us, welcomed our dog (and made a fuss of him) and made staying here for honeymoon such a positive experience by suggesting local places to explore and always taking time to speak to guests .  Gabriel and Dean - thank you, you are truly outstanding at your job and we really cannot wait to return.  We can recommend the bar for some delicious drinks. Lucy made me a special mocktail to help alleviate pregnancy sickness. She asked me what I liked, what helped and came up with the most stunning drink containing everything I loved, craved and it really did keep the sickness at bay. My husband certainly can recommend the Whiskey Old Fashioned  - saying its one, if not the best he's ever had (and he's had a fair few).  If you're thinking of visiting do not hesitate. The hotel and grounds are stunning and the rooms are fully equipped l, styled perfectly and the whole ambience is truly special. We love that you are so dog friendly too.  The activities the hotel arrange are fantastic. My husband (who is a golfer) loved the course and cannot wait to return for another 18 holes.  However the stand out for us was the staff who quite simply are exceptional at what they do. Thank you for everything. Mr & Mrs King.

We were looking for a Devon based wedding venue to host our special day and keen to do something a little bit different. From the very first moment we visited Bovey Castle, it was hard to imagine getting married anywhere else. Our wedding day in August 2024 went beautifully, and we felt everything just ran smoothly around us, without us needing to worry about a thing. The food, drinks, service were all wonderful and they even pulled out all the stops to make sure our cheese cake did not collapse on a very warm August day! The venue is stunning for photos and the suite we stayed in was absolutely incredible, and made the whole event feel even more special. On the morning of the wedding the housekeeping team could not have been more accommodating, delivering everything from an ironing board to extra towels with a smile. Leah who helped with all the wedding planning, and Duncan who assisted throughout our wedding meal, as well as all staff from the porters, to the bar team and even the local taxi driver, were fantastic. Thank you so much Bovey Castle, and your lovely team, you really helped to make our wedding a day to remember. Clare & David

Had a lovely Champagne afternoon tea here, the food was lovely, fresh and so tasty. The service was fantastic, it was quiet and relaxed. The room and the castle were absolutely stunning. We walked the grounds and could've got lost a hundred times over, it was truly breathtaking

Overall it was a pleasant stay, but not 5 star. The hotel itself is quite impressive, the bar is comfortable and the lounges are great to relax in. The terrace is really peaceful. The location and surroundings are really incredible. The rooms are a bit tired, with loose window panes held in with folded foil, and tiles coming away in the bathroom. The hallways are creaky and draughty. But it’s an old hotel, so maybe that’s to be expected. The service was ok. Shout out to Mark who went the extra mile. But the parking attendant left our car window open on a rainy morning which made for a damp drive home. They comped our breakfasts as an apology which was nice but would rather it hadn’t happened in the first place.
