A friend and I booked a Sunday/Monday golf break and were very satisfied indeed. The hotel room was very spacious with two double beds in the twin room. The food and service were excellent and the offering of two golf courses was superb. Both courses were superbly looked after and offer very different styles of play. The moorland course is chalk based, wide and open and the priory course (clay base) is undulating and requires a lot of thought. We hired a buggy for the first round which at £35 was very reasonable. We would not hesitate to book to stay and play again.

What a lovely hotel. Such a beautiful place, I couldn’t fault it. The traditional priory rooms are just amazing and so much more than what I expected. The food at the Cast Iron Grill is to die for, and can be served with room service too, which is extremely useful. Walking around the grounds is also very relaxing. I would stay again, without a doubt. Also, the hotel lobby smells amazing! I need to get that air freshener!!

Even though I scored the room as a 3 it is a lovely building and location. Staff are very friendly and the we had a really good meal in the Cast Iron restaurant one evening. The room I scored a 3 as the bathroom is functional but poor design as the shower over the bath leaks water over the flow with the poor fitting shower glass, the toilet does not fully flush due to the handle not fully travelling due to the location of the wooden architrave. Also the heating in the room is via an electric radiator with a control panel that illuminates the room at night. The oldest building in the global Marriott portfolio which has an interesting history. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Good size rooms, plenty of drinks in the room which is ideal. Large site, so can be a bit tricky to navigate at first. Plenty of things to do like pool, golf etc. Most of the staff are lovely, some new ones maybe seasonal but understandable that they may not be familiar.

Disabled access to rooms ignored. Had to use steps. Food was poor and 10 pm before served on 2 nights. Staff were fantastic and very helpful. Allowed to leave car by Reception while eating. Too far to walk. Didn't want to wait for buggy.
