Altamount Manor, Exclusive Hire

This was my first time in Scotland and I don't think a higher standard could have been set for future travels. I loved the spacious elegance of my room, and the historical aesthetic of the manor house and grounds made it a banger location for a writers' retreat. It's about an hour from Edinburgh station by train or car, in a remote little town. Shout out to my charming Uber driver for finding the turn off to the long tree-lined drive after dark. Of course, it's people who set the standard. Five-star service is nice, but five star service delivered with warmth and thoughtfulness sets this place apart. There were hugs on departure and unanimous plans to return.

Amazing Manor to stay. Staff excellent could not do enough for you, Bed was really comfortable and pillows I wanted to take them home so cosy 👌 👍. Food was amazing could not fault, Breakfast was also delicious, Best Summer Ball we have been to. A special shout out to the host Nicolas who posted my ring back as I left it in room your one in a million, Thank you so much. I just returned from a writer's retreat at McArthur Manor, and if I could buy a ticket and return, I would in a heartbeat. The retreat was wonderful, and made more-so because of this beautiful and well-kept manor, and their lovely staff. Nicholas and his team went out of their way to see to every detail, and then some. The food was wonderful and detailed and scrumptious, every room was beautifully appointed and clean, whatever needs we had were seen to (even to sewing up my travel pillow by the lovely housekeeper), and the grounds and facilities were perfect for our classes. The staff were a delight and I miss them! It's a beautifully atmospheric place and would be perfect for weddings, reunions, retreats, or really, anything. Highly recommend. Hope to return soon.
