Stoke Place Hotel is a charming escape that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel like we were in our own private haven. The grounds are nice and create the perfect setting for a peaceful retreat. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated with a mix of modern touches and classic elegance, and the beds were comfortable. 🛏️💫 Whether you're here for a romantic weekend getaway, a wedding, or just to relax, Stoke Place offers an atmosphere of understated luxury. It's the perfect spot for unwinding, enjoying nature, and indulging in some well-deserved pampering. I'll definitely be returning!

Lovely one night stay while visiting friends , very friendly service at the reception and bar. Reasonably priced, breakfast was delicious however would be good to have continental breakfast options. Staff attentive and very friendly, looking forward to another stay in couple of weeks...felt like mini holidays ...

My Grandson had his 1st birthday party, held on the lakeside room. I’ll start with the positives The outside gardens are beautiful and stunning scenery with the lake etc, we were lucky with the weather which made the day for everyone. The lakeside room is also good sized room for smaller events. Food was delicious and the brownies were so good. Staff were friendly and happy to accommodate our requests. There is also a Bluetooth speaker there to play your own music list. Negatives The room was very cold, it was warmer outside than inside. I think heating was turned on towards the end of the event but room still felt cold. The furniture is old and tatty particularly the dining chairs, the frames are wooden and are all scratched and varnish worn off, they may have at one time had a rustic look but gone way beyond that now, need to be restored as they don’t look nice at all. There is a sofa but the seat area of the sofa is damaged & has sunken at the back. Only one bartender, resulting in long queues at the bar. Food 40 kids, 53 adults We had the caterpillar menu for the kids and the sandwiches, wraps and chips for the adults. The layout of the food made a difficult for guests to understand what was for children and what was for adults as it all was mixed up together. There was one large Dish of pasta and one large dish of chips. The pasta was only for 40 children and the chips was for 93 people when the chips ran out. We were told that, that was the full amount for all people, When we questioned how could one large dish of chips be for 93 people and one large dish of pasta be for 40 children they eventually brought out more chips. There was no tea or coffee available at the bar, as the day went on more people wanted tea and coffee so the compromise was they set up a stand with tea and coffee flasks and we had to pay extra for that, We had an open bar for the guests so that was not an issue but had it been a party where guest were paying for their own beverages, they would have to go to another bar in the hotel to get tea and coffee. Overall we had a lovely day, the food was delicious, I feel they just need to get the food set up right as this could cause issues with the children’s food running out as adults were inadvertently taking some of theirs, and Stoke place need to be mindful of the portion sizes for chips!! Room furniture needs attention and temperature of the room needs to be comfortable!

The grounds are gorgeous, but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. It is 300 years old, I realize...but there was no place to charge the phones (no USB) and the bathroom is cold with a tipsy floor that left me staggering around. Desk & chair in the room, but nowhere to relax in the room except the bed. Nice hot water in the taps and lovely warm towels. Staff were friendly & helpful. There are lots of stairs.

Stayed here one night and we were not impressed. We were booked in the “garden “ rooms which were very basic.Very rough to say the least To make things worse we parked our rental car in the lot and received a parking fine as we were not informed of the rules.Totally ridiculous as this place has plenty of space to park and is in the countryside We’ve travelled in Canada the United States and Mexico and have never seen a situation like this The restaurant and bar were fine and the grounds were nice Needs very much work to be brought up to today’s standards We will never stay here again
