February 2025We come here every year for our anniversary, and we’re going to get married here too. The staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are beautiful and clean, and the location is fantastic. It’s rare to find somewhere in Bath with free parking! The use of the spa and pool is a big bonus.

February 2025First off the postcode takes you to the wrong side of the building, so if you are going use this W3W///Fast.trades.slip for the correct entrance. The Spa hotel itself is lovely, the reception area and bar restaurants all still retain some of their former Victorian opulence. The rooms (or at least the one we had for the night) was well appointed, with all the usual extras you would expect from a 5* establishment, but the decor is starting to look a little tired. Breakfast (we opted for full English) was very nice indeed but was very busy around 09.30 so.probably best to try and get in there a little earlier. The Spa facilities are very good, with the outdoor plunge pool being a 'must visit' 👌

February 2025We booked a one-night spa break as a first night away from our little ones. It was nearly impossible to get a hold of someone before we arrived. We had to call 10 times to finally speak with someone. Spa needs maintenance - tiles missing, looking a little worn, one of the two saunas not working. Spa treatment was lovely. Room a bit dated but has all facilities needed. Breakfast was horrific. The cooked vegan breakfast was cold, they forgot to add the extra bits we needed and the oat flat white was cold and with cow’s milk. Bath is an amazing city to visit, but we will be booking at another hotel next time. Value for money this hotel isn’t.

March 2025Unfortunately i found my experience at Macdonald bath spa pretty awful, my partner and i came for a spa day to celebrate my 21st. The spa facilities were unclean, and most of them looked like they were on their last legs. The changing room was a nightmare with personal items and discarded towels and robes dotted around the room. I'd never had afternoon tea before and this experience certainly doesn't inspire me to try it again. On the plus side our massages were absolutely lovely and so were the majority of staff members we interacted with, however I would not return.

March 2025Another 1* review for the spa I'm afraid. Came here 8 years ago for a spa day and remember it being reasonably nice, unfortunately they've clearly done no maintenance in that time! As other reviews have said, missing tiles everywhere, tons of black mould in all pools and spa areas, the steam room wasn't working, shower wasn't working, half the seating area around the pool (which is limited at the best of times) was fenced off with workmen there. Not quite sure why that work couldn't be done outside of spa hours or at least close for the day?! Offered to go in the 'relaxation room' but that is miles from the pool area. Spa treatments were OK but certainly nothing special.
