Tucked away amongst the hustle and bustle of Mayfair is one of London’s best kept restaurant secrets: El Pirata. Our family owned restaurant has been serving authentic, fresh Spanish cuisine for 25 years now, gaining us a reputation as one of the best Tapas experiences for those who want the real thing.

Enjoy a relaxed lunch al fresco or upstairs; for larger groups, you can book a cosy alcove or a larger table in our newly refurbished basement. With a Picasso inspired mural across our exposed brickwork, and soft, atmospheric lighting, this space is the perfect choice for private parties, working dinners or romantic evenings.

Here at El Pirata, we are all about la familia (the family): Jose and the team are ready to welcome you with open arms and make you and your guests feel right at home.

Step down to the newly-transformed Cellar with its' cosy whitewashed alcoves, exposed brick, hand painted mural and terracotta tiling. Sympathetic to Spanish tradition but amiably made contemporary, the subterranean dining space is wonderful for lower key and quiet meetings, private dining and exclusive hire for occasions. Full of character, the cellar makes the perfect backdrop to a wide range of events, from sit down dinners and corporate events to meet-ups and book launches.
Our group menu offers a wide variety of tapas choices whilst being very good value from £25 per head, and we also offer drinks & tapas packages for more informal occasions (please ask for more information). Whatever you’re looking for, our dedicated team are here to ensure you receive the full El Pirata experience.
Looking for something a little more private? El Pirata now welcomes full venue hires, encompassing the cellar, upstairs restaurant and outdoor seating, ensuring you and your guests can enjoy total exclusivity with your guests for those really special occasions. Our team can offer full party packages, drinks options and receptions, as well as providing you with a tailored experience from start to finish: let our familia look after yours.

Nestled in the heart of London’s Mayfair district, this Spanish restaurant perfectly blends Mediterranean flair with the vibrancy of London. The décor is elegant, the atmosphere inviting, making it an ideal spot for a memorable meal with friends or a loved one. The pricing here is quite reasonable compared to other high-end dining options in London. With a diverse menu and a splendid selection of Spanish wines, ranging from £30 to £40 per bottle, there’s something for everyone. We particularly relished the garlic tomato bread and grilled green peppers, bursting with flavour. Always bustling with patrons, the lively ambience adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience. We had a wonderful evening, savouring delicious food that not only satisfied the palate but also offered great value for money. This is definitely a dining destination worth recommending!

The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and a good selection of tasty dishes. I appreciated the nice touch of having our jackets stored in a cloakroom. However, while some of the staff were friendly, our waitress made us feel rushed and unwelcome, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. For a place of this caliber, that level of service was disappointing, which is why I’ve given a 3-star rating. It’s unfortunate because everything else was enjoyable, but this did affect our experience.

This is the first time I give 2 stars review on a restaurant category We were a group of 3 people who went for early dinner at 4pm. Atmosphere upstairs seems okay but we were sat downstairs with no natural light and very loud when everyone was chatting Food is okay but not worth the money spent due to tapas size portion even for main dish. Nothing stands out, compared with tapas in Spain I’ve had before. The most disappointing part is service. The waitress downstairs made us felt rush, considering the restaurant was less than 50% capacity between 4-5pm We were interrupted a few times when we hadn’t finished Paella and they wanted to clear the table already. Moreover, they brought a card machine over while we hadn’t checked the bill yet. So I need to pay without checking at all I should have believed previous review about being rushed to leave. Not recommend for a mid food quality whilst being charged a big money
