The Briar is a sensitively restored 17th century barn which formally functioned as the stables to our main house and is a million miles away from the standard corporate board room. The Briar boasts many charming features such as original oak beams, exposed rafters and a working fire place creating the most quintessentially English setting. The Briar is an extremely versatile function space and can cater for events both large and small. The Briar suite also benefits from having its own private bar facility, concealed dance floor, modern toilets and a peaceful court yard area providing a practical function venue with plenty of rustic charm.

We got married at Cantley Park in July 2024. The venue and the staff were exceptional—always friendly, helpful, and incredibly professional. A special thanks goes to Lara and Diana, who truly made our day unforgettable. We are immensely grateful to them! I cannot praise this venue highly enough; it now holds a cherished place in our hearts.

My daughter got married here on the 14th June. What a magical day and beautiful venue. She & her husband booked all the rooms so we had the entire place to ourselves. Such an amazing Wedding Day. We had so much fun. The hotel is very upmarket but without the stuffiness you can sometimes incur. The rooms were lovely, the food was delicious and the whole atmosphere and Wedding Day was SO special and a day we all enjoyed and will remember forever. A Special Thank You has to go to Diane who over-saw the day; you made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much for you (you even found a safety-pin when we needed one!). I hope you're appreciated at work as much as we appreciated you.

I stay in this area about 4 nights a month and have done for the last 8 months. Early on I stayed at the Cantley House and wasn't overly satisfied so tried other places and haven't been back since. Due to last minute arrangements and my preferred place not being available I came back hoping that my first experience was just an 'off' night, sadly it wasn't. The room itself wasn't bad, just tired and not as well maintained as it should be. There were scuff marks on the walls, a weird stain in the middle of the ceiling, shower heads full of calcification and so on. The bed was not too bad (better than last time) but the pillows are not great. The walls though it would seem are very thin and you can hear with great clarity what your neighbours are watching on the TV. Sadly one of my neighbours (two rooms down) had two dogs of which one was very nervous and its incessant barking was incredibly loud and continuous (too the degree that i think the owners had gone out for a meal, or they just didn't care) and provided a wake up call at about 5.45AM. The food is quite good but not worth what it was charged (Sirloin at £32, no steak knife and hard to cut) but this could just be a one off as my last meal here was much better. They do have proper toilet paper and not the tracing paper that even expensive hotels try to pass off.... All in all its not bad and at the cost charged, was much less than the local Premier Inn. The staff are friendly & courteous (possibly understaffed as it took more than 5 minutes for someone to show to reception) and the location is great. Its just the thin walls, inconsiderate guests and tired state that lets it down.

Rools are OK, but shower was really hot and the shower faucet was broken in room 8 so could not turn down the temperature. Service at breakfast was totally disinterested and it took 30 min for my cooked breakfast to be prepared. Scrambled eggs with Salmon were lovely when it finally arrived.
