December 2024Had Christmas party there, nothing special, ok. The stand out thing was how expensive the drinks were! Ended up wearing my main course, but I didn't mark it down for an accident, that's just bad luck!

December 2024We stayed one night an attending a party nearby. The hotel is clearly undergoing a gradual update. The entry way and breakfast room are new and pleasant. The breakfast hot meal was done very well and staff friendly. Hotel check in was quick, pleasant and nice staff. The room, however, is stuck in the 1970s, possibly early 1980s. Very dated, musty smell, standard double is actually a small double. Very little amenities in the room such as no hair dryer, bare minimum. The hall to the room was battered and smelled of a bit of mildew and cheap disinfectant. Extremely noisy as doors are quite old (chip board?) offering no noise barrier. I think once upgrades have been done the place could be very nice as it is a lovely looking building externally and in the redecorated public rooms. Until then, far too expensive (£120) for what you get and without a good nights sleep. We plan to stay in a pub with rooms next time we visit (£80).
