Makeney Hall Hotel, Chevin Suite

Had a executive room with a courtyard view, The view out of the two windows was of a flat roof and roof light! The room was a good size but definitely needed a complete overhaul, The only good thing was it seemed to be a new bed which was very comfortable, The room and bathroom were clean but very tired looking, the wardrobe was something out of the 70’s and none of the furniture matched, stained carpet and no fan in the bathroom, so when showering the room stayed steamed up for a long time, The mirror in the bathroom was not suitable to do your makeup in as the sink was in front of it and not enough space to get between the toilet and sink to get nearer, also apart from a small towel rail, that was off, nowhere else to hang towels! The only other mirror was in the bedroom which had a sofa in front off it, so yet again to far away for make up, We were staying for a couple of nights for our friends birthday, the meal in the evening was very good and breakfast was good, I think in the main part of the hotel the rooms have been refurbished to a good standard, but there was no way the room we stayed in can be called an executive room, The grounds were lovely and staff were very friendly.

The reception and waiting staff were attentive and polite. The room was spacious and clean, however there was a strong odour of cannabis due to other younger guests. The food was inconsistent, totally varied day by day in ingredients, portion size and quality. The chef needs to find a new job. Lots of plates got returned to the kitchen, from our party and other paying members of the public.
