Benares Mayfair is a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant located on Berkeley Square in one of London’s most prestigious neighbourhoods.
With refined cooking and perfectly presented dishes at the heart, Executive Chef Sameer Taneja creates seasonally changing menus that draw on influences and spices from all corners of the subcontinent, to enhance rather than overwhelm the top-quality ingredients sourced from UK’s finest producers.
Sameer Taneja is Executive Chef at Benares, London’s trail blazing Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Mayfair. Using his classical training in French and Indian cuisine and 20 years’ experience working alongside some of the world’s best chefs, Sameer’s culinary style pairs high quality British ingredients with authentic Indian spices and techniques.
Benares has 4 private dining rooms and can be hired for exclusive events such as corporate functions, product launches and personal celebrations. The events and hospitality team will help tailor each event to the needs of the client to ensure an exceptional experience.
The Dover Private Dining Room is our largest room, accommodating up to 36 diners, and is one of the largest private dining spaces in Mayfair.
Located at the far end of the restaurant, it is a long room perfect for large groups.
With sepia and paprika coloured prints lining the walls, the simple dark wooden panelled room with white ceiling and sliding doors can also be completely private or opened up to become part of the main restaurant.

Great Indian fine cuisine at Benares London. The restaurant was a bit dark hence the photos did not do justice to the actual taste of the food. Go for their creative starters and mains but the traditional dishes are good too. Definitely need to save some space for their desert.

Shiv was fantastic. He took us through the menu and the history of India. If you visit one Indian restaurant in the UK this is the one. If you are an expert in the cuisine or a novice, you'll experience the same ambience just the same. Shiv will walk you through making sure you are comfortable and are fully immersed within the culture. The food is other worldly. You won't regret.

We had the most incredible experience here! We opted for the tasting menu and were blown away. Not only was each course unique, but also incredibly delicious in its own way. By the end we were so full, which is not always the case with tasting menus. The service was also impeccable. From the moment we walked into the door to the moment we left, every person we encountered from the staff was helpful and friendly. Special shout out to Shiv who vividly explained each course and provided the utmost professionalism in his service. Thank you, Shiv, for a truly great evening!

WOW WOW amazing! Literally one of the best meals I have had. The food is sublime. The chicken momo starter in chestnut soup is like nothing I have every had - spicy tingle on the lips, sweet soft chestnuts, umami soup, delicious spiced chicken - unbelievable. Murg makhani main was superb - along with garlic naan, tikka aubergine, dal - layers and layers of flavour. Dessert absolutely delicious too - chai brulee. Followed by petit fours! Staff were excellent - friendly, funny, efficient. And 3 courses for £49 at lunch is superb pricing for a Michelin* restaurant in central London! Will be back!

Food was amazing, everything we tried was very delicious, especially Welsh lamb and butter chicken. Our waiter Shiv was very friendly and showed excellent service. It was also our anniversary and we received a complementary dessert with “Happy anniversary!” decoration which was very thoughtful. 10/10
