Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel, Exclusive Hire

Booked in with a friend for a massage, elemis facial and afternoon tea. I don't know what all these negative reviews are about but we had a lovely afternoon. The staff were very professional, friendly and approachable. The massage was amazing, probably the best I've had. The afternoon tea was lovely too, I wasn't sure what I'd be getting as a vegan but they had a great supply of finger sandwiches, scone and cake for me! We were only waiting for less than 5 minutes for our food, this was on a Saturday valentine's weekend too, so they were very prompt with that. We didn't use the pool but it was of good size. We didn't stay in any of the hotel rooms so cannot comment on them. Overall a very positive experience!

Beautiful hotel and spa. Room was gorgeous but lots of banging throughout the early hours of the morning and even louder at standard breastfast time which I was upset about as I requested a quiet room in advance. So little sleep. I couldn’t get any hot water for the shower but it was powerful. Facilities in the room were good. Bed was comfy and was overlooking the countryside, which was just stunning. Reception ( Jerome ) was very polite and helpful. He was very welcoming The spa treatments were ok but for the cost I would have expected “wow” and it just wasn’t. The rooms were all too cold for the weather. Very confusing on where to go and what to do and what’s actually included. Overall nice but pricey for what it is.
