The rooms….
Whatever size your party, you’re sure to be celebrating in a stunning room with features such as carved stone fireplaces, oak panelling, beautiful hand-painted walls, stencilled ceilings and stained glass windows throughout.
The Exchange…..
The most popular setting for the ceremony is The Exchange, which seats up to 100 of your closest friends and family who will all have the best seat in the house as the bride makes her entrance down the staircase in front of them.
The Exchange also makes an enchanting venue for evening receptions. With its towering red and grey granite cylindrical columns and original tiled floor, it’s the perfect place to dance the night away.?
The Reception Room….
With its pair of finely carved stone fireplaces and ornate decoration, the Reception Room is the ideal setting for your wedding breakfast. The room seats between 30 and 70 guests and is the perfect size for making those all important speeches.
The Mayor’s Dining Room….
For small, intimate weddings, The Mayor’s Dining Room the perfect location for up to 18 guests. Impressive in its grandeur, the room features a large dining table and finely carved chairs to ensure you dine in style.?
The Great Hall…..
The spacious Great Hall is an impressive room, unequalled among civic buildings. It provides a location that is stunning in its elegance and perfect for large wedding parties. The Great Hall can accommodate up to 250 guests with a dance floor or up to 350 guests using all the available space with a full bar included in the adjacent room.?

February 2025Amazing building, you can go inside for free. The staff is really helpful. If there is an event going on, you can go on and see and even participate if you ask nicely. We had a really good time at the town hall. Highly recommended

February 2025Wonderful restoration. Took the guided tour, but not necessary if you'd like to look around. The restaurant gets great reviews but best to book ahead. All town halls need to be more open and useful. They are for the people after all.

February 2025Fantastic! The tour with Ray was fascinating, he made everything interesting and memorable. The town hall really does have the WOW factor. Worth every penny of the tour price (£8). You can get tickets on their website. The car park was closed, parked in the shopping centre, ten mins walk. Highly recommend this tour.

December 2024Beautiful and historical building and now even better for being done up. With the paving and new plaza out the front, it's finally in the setting it deserves. The tour was fascinating, thoroughly recommend. It's going to be even more stunning when the gardens at the back and the town hall steps are finished. clock started again binging perfectly !
