Crow Wood Hotel & Spa Resort, Lakeside Suite

A nice hotel but not worthy of 5 stars. The room is okay and has everything you would need but missing those little touches you would expect of a 5 star hotel, for example there are no robes and a limited selection of teas and coffee. The leisure facilities are a small walk away which is fine, but do feel a little tired - my gym at home has better facilities. It very much feels like a gym/leisure centre that the hotel has access to, rather than the built in facilities of a 5 star hotel. They clearly have spent a lot on the spa, perhaps at the detriment to general hotel facilities. Having to pay for a towel and locker was unexpected, again felt like this should be included. The sauna and the steam room were full of large men - locals who obviously pay for membership which detracted from the experience a little bit. We had a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant - the food was excellent and the staff were lovely, if a little overbearing. Felt we were interrupted every 5 minutes to check all was okay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful - absolutely cannot fault the service received. We had a lovely weekend but for the price, will probably stay somewhere else next time.

The only positive aspect of this hotel is the friendly and helpful staff. They were always polite and willing to assist with any questions or requests. However, the overall experience was disappointing due to several cleanliness and maintenance issues. The room lacked proper cleanliness; the windows were dirty, and there was an unpleasant smell throughout. The bathroom was poorly stocked with hygiene products – just small bottles of low-quality shampoo and shower gel. Don’t expect essentials like a shower cap or toothbrush. Additionally, there was no refrigerator in the room. The smell of mold was overwhelming everywhere. The leisure center was in terrible condition – moldy, with a terrible odor, and everything was broken or worn out. Getting to the leisure center was inconvenient as there were no sidewalks, and the path was unlit at night, making it unsafe. It’s hard to believe this hotel has such a high guest rating. The only redeeming factor is the staff’s excellent attitude, but the hotel itself needs serious improvement.
