🏰 What an amazing Museum! 🏰 We visited York Castle Museum on Sunday. It wasn’t too busy. We started in the information gallery where you can read about life in old York, how people lived and what they ate. 🍽️ Then we went to the recreated old street, which felt like stepping back in time—almost like a Harry Potter studio tour! 🏚️🚶‍♂️ You could explore different shops, a police station, and even an old prison, making it a truly immersive experience. Next, we visited York Castle Prison, followed by a modern York exhibition. Every part of the museum had something interesting to offer. There were so many exhibits that we didn’t have enough time to see everything properly, so I’d love to visit again. Highly recommend it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We really enjoyed our visit to the museum. It is very big and you need to allow probably about 2 hours to visit. It has plenty of toilets and a cafe Also a gift shop

So worth popping in - the oddities collection was very cool. The main event - the Victorian street was even more impressive than I had expected and it was lovely to walk around in. As a bonus the 50s/60s section was very fun to look at with loads of fashion on display (a particular interest of mine)

York Castle Museum is a fascinating place to explore history, offering immersive exhibits that take you back in time. One of the highlights is the recreated Victorian street, which makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era. The museum covers a wide range of topics, from daily life in different centuries to prison cells and military history. A great bonus is that if you buy a ticket, it grants you unlimited visits for a year at no extra cost—perfect for those who want to come back and explore more. The ticket price is the same as a single visit, making it excellent value for money. Highly recommended for history lovers and anyone looking to experience York’s rich past!

Absolutely fantastic. I’m on disability and my partner is my carer, we are low income so we’re able to access the museum for free, this kind of thing is amazing as it means we can show our toddler culture and all the amazing things that a museum has to offer. I’m autistic and did find some parts over stimulating, but they did have a quiet room. The staff are absolutely fantastic too.
